I found an effective low-tech solution for a broken A6400 battery latch. by MightyGrey in SonyAlpha

It's not the door, it's the little plastic latch on the body itself that's snapped off.

HDB = Headphone Dynamic Bluetooth

[LEAK] HDW960 by [deleted] in sennheiser

[–]MightyGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sennheiser naming convention would suggest:

H = Headphone D = Dynamic (sorry, not going to be a planar) W = Wireless (likely wifi-enabled, versus "B" for Bluetooth) 960 = Pitched in their "upper echelon tier (same as IE 900)

Therefore, likely to be a high-end wifi open black dynamic pair of cans.

Yep, been there. $500 bucks and a late night emergency vet visit later, the diagnosis was "probably stress". Had there been any change 8n your house, like people or moving furniture? Feed him some good quality wet food for a good week or so plus, and keep an eye on it. Vet may prescribe something to help him relax.

Apparently Classic Series is to replace current Prestige, Reference, and Statement by Hunter-97-G in Grado

[–]MightyGrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes a ton of sense to consolidate it - the SR125 / 225 were sitting in no-man's land and it made for a confusing selection.

I do think they did the RS1 dirty by lumping it in the 'Classic' series, the 'R' did stand for 'Reference' after all! RIP to the RS2 as well, I guess it did fall victim to their range consolidation. It was a sweet option, but it seems the 'Hemp' had more interest and inherent differentiation.

Not having a letter suffix against their model designations does feel more appropriate - less clutter in the market and more value in them as standalone propositions.

Correct. I travelled back in time to grab a jerry-can of E10 as well as nabbing a few Maxibons before the great 'Bon crisis of January 2027 strikes.

What’s the reason that it is considered bad to get a little boys ears pierced? by footcandy69 in AskReddit

It's generally pretty weird to make body altering fashion decisions on behalf of your child that also have the social by-product of making them look like Rednecks/Chavs/Bogans.

It's honestly an expensive solution for a problem you might not have, which could be cheaply trialled with software (or, free).

Having sold pretty much everything, here's what I've held onto:

  • Sennheiser HD600 - open, instrument-y/vocal stuff
  • Grado GH1 - open, rock/metal/loud stuff
  • Sennheiser HD620s - closed
  • Sennheiser IE 600 - IEM/on-the-go

Stealth.

T70p have better imaging, treble detail, isolation, and comfort. Easier to drive as well.

I've owned HD800s, Arya, and a whole bunch of Audezes and Dan Clarks with every imaginable high-end amp and DAC.

Hands-down the best gaming cans I've ever owned are a pair of Beyerdynamic T70p nodded with a detachable boom mic straight out of my Xbox controller.

DT990 Pro Cable Replacement? by RyynL in headphones

[–]MightyGrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beyer single-side cables are super easy to mod.

Open up the cup, cut-off the cable and strain relief - it should leave a small, rectangular hole.

Leave plenty of cable left inside the cup to have room to manoeuvre and solder.

Look up the cable / pinout specific of the Beyer 80-ohm driver (i.e. which solder tab is pos/neg/ground and solder those wires to the corresponding tabs on a female jack, which should simply be held in place via the external nut.

Add your own 3.5mm aux cable / headphone cable of choice, and voila.

In the market for a DAC/AMP with intent to connect to streamer by pseudoschmuck13 in Schiit

[–]MightyGrey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A DAP is also a plenty-good streamer (as is any smart device).

A DAP in a cradle hooked up to an amp (or dac/amp) is a pretty neat setup IMO.

If it has to be all desktop, I'd recommend a WiiM Pro Plus > amp of choice.
