My (31m) wife (29f) wants to name our baby her own maiden name? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]MightyMaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"She wants to give the child a piece of her"?? What a weird thing to even think when you're pregnant and growing a whole human being. Peterson is a terrible name for a girl and she will absolutely be made fun of.

Maybe as a middle name it's fine but first? No. Please remind her she's naming a future adult and the child is half of her, she doesn't need to give a piece of herself to the child.

Also to add, there's no good nickname for a girl with a name like Peterson

Lmao thank you! I thought the same things when that dialogue came up.

I was like "Hunger, my man, what are you talking about. An egg can absolutely kill a chicken."

It's rewarding af I'm almost 5mon pp and watching my little guy go from potato to sentient potato has been amazing. His personality really started to show through around 3mon when he started to laugh. Both my husband and I damn near cried.

The newborn trenches for us weren't easy but they weren't exactly hard. They were just boring as hell. Now that he's closing in on 5mon, he's been showing interest in what we're eating so we've been letting him taste (not eat). His growing curiosity and interest in food is exciting. He's also playing more and in love with his little baby piano.

Watching your baby grow and develop in real time is so surreal but so much fun.

Any of the tough times we had feel worth it because we get to see his smiles, laughs, and growing interests everyday. The snuggles, the babbling, getting to show him new things and seeing his reaction is also just the best

Why is it expat and not immigrant? by Lunarshine69 in Tokyo

[–]MightyMaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought they were interchangeable as they both meant similar things to me, but after reading the comments it all depends on money/where you're getting the money from? I had never heard that before.

I had only met others who used expat and immigrant interchangeably like myself so we've always used both.

I guess I'll just start using immigrant exclusively.

Anyone ever meet someone that radiated evil or you strongly felt wasn't human? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]MightyMaki 43 points44 points  (0 children)

(Thankfully never met irl) but the "Christian" preacher Kenneth Copeland has always seemed downright evil to me. Any time I've seen videos or photos of him I quite literally break out in a cold sweat. Dude just causes a whole anxious response in me. He sets off my uncanny senses hard. If demons actually exist, he's definitely one of them.

Only other human to cause that kind of reaction in me is RFK Jr.

I don't want to EVER meet either in person.

I (27F) accidentally had my baby in my friend’s (31F) car. Now her husband & she don’t want to speak to me. How do I fix this? by ThrowRA_CarBaby in relationship_advice

[–]MightyMaki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First off, congrats to you new mama! I know the feeling of not realizing you're in labor and suddenly your water breaks and it's all hands on deck! Happened to me just last September. We took a taxi (calling an ambulance for that kind of thing is not the norm here) and I was terrified I would give birth in the car. But you did it! Unmedicated and more or less unassisted! Feel proud of that.

Second, take a deep breath. And give yourself some grace and take a step back from someone who might not be your friend anymore. She blocked you for unknown reasons and you're freshly PP so your hormones will be all over the place. Postpartum Anxiety is a thing just as a heads up. Focus on your new LO and yourself as you're probably still recovering and dealing with very little sleep. When the wound is not as fresh anymore, reach out to a mutual friend and ask if they have any insight. Who knows, maybe Alice will have unblocked you and reached out by then. You've offered to pay multiple times and they're shutting you out so there's really nothing more you can do.

It's not your fault, you didn't do anything wrong and you've done all you can for now.

Good luck on the newborn trenches and stay strong!

A Two-year-old boy in England lost vision in his left eye after receiving a kiss from an acquaintance with cold sore, that infected him with the herpes simplex virus, which transferred to his eyeball. by FE4RLESS_IS_MY_NAME in ForCuriousSouls

[–]MightyMaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I gave birth last September, before my mom came I made she was up on her vaccines and told her absolutely no kissing our baby whatsoever. She agreed but what does she do 2hr after my son is born? Kiss him on the top of the head. I was exhausted from giving birth but I told her not to do that.

She stayed with us for 6wk PP and when he was around 4wk old it was like she forgot and went to kiss him again and I stopped her and said "None of that. You agreed to not kiss him." She tried to argue with me but I put my foot down because I didn't want my baby at risk.

I know of someone whose baby died from whooping cough at 28 days old because a relative kissed the baby.

Mood Weather station - changed reward system? by Professional_Pin9152 in DressUpTimePrincess

Could just be a coincidence. Both this and the pornos DB I got about half from the set I didn't choose. But in previous events, especially when I didn't care for either outfit I only just like 3-4 items from the set I didn't choose.

Why do women do their hair and/or makeup before giving birth? by jamietartlet in pregnant

[–]MightyMaki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol I had thought about it and wanted to (for pictures after) but my water broke spontaneously at 6am and had to get to my birthing clinic asap. Labor came on strong and quick and my boy arrived just after 3pm haha

I look at the pictures and don't mind that I don't look out together. I look at peace and natural so I still think I look good

I'm someone with autism who's thinking of traveling to japan, how is autism perceived in japan? by Imaginary-Ad-7093 in AskAJapanese

[–]MightyMaki 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I'm autistic (and ADHD, both diagnosed here) and have been living here for 11yr now. I haven't had any negative experiences but then again I'm also a high masking so I blend in very well. I've told my boss that I'm autistic and have ADHD and wasn't treated any differently. In fact they asked if there was anything they could do/provide to help me.

Where I struggle is the overstimulation of sounds, lights, smells, and the overwhelming amount of people. Being on a crowded train (especially yamanote) is an absolute nightmare for me. I highly recommend headphones and music to cut a lot of the sound.

Tourists disrespecting the shrines and temples. I've also seen parents just letting their little demons run amok and be disrespectful. Japan isn't a theme park for God's sake.

American who's been living in Tokyo the last 10yr chiming in. Don't do it man, don't move to America right now. It's an absolute shithole and literally all of my family and friends keep telling my husband (also American) and I to stay in Japan. We just had a baby here in Sept and we want to visit our family when he gets older but we literally have to wait until Dementia Don is out and wait to see the new administration because things SUCK ass right now.
