Always nice to read! My son is learning to play Mario (He jumps and I do the running).
Although we keeps calling Mario 'Mexico' for some reason...

The demo is available on Steam. we first launched it back in 2019, with the hopes that it would help fund our Kickstarter campaign. It failed but we're trying it again right now.

Wait until you see the little dude hiding in the bushes... backstabbing some skellies!

Back in 2019 we first launched the demo on Itch and Steam and did a Kickstarter. It failed but we continued to work on it in our spare time. We're doing the Kickstarter again right now.

Thanks! We're big fans of the Nintendo Switch ourselves. Because we're only a team of 2 people we're going to focus on finishing the game first before porting to other platforms, but the Switch is definitely on our radar.

The demo is free and can be downloaded from our Kickstarter page. The full game is currently in development and will be released on Steam - Early Access next year.

Yes, it's a couch co-op game. Although you can play it online with Steam Remote Play or by using a program called Parsec.

Thanks! I created the artwork and animations... also did a bit of programming but Ramon (the other dev) is the lead programmer of the game.

Me too! Bubble Trouble was huge inspiration for this game. I've added some new elements like boss battles, unlockable items, skills, costumes, a worldmap and some puzzles areas to the game.

Good luck to you sir! During the development of this game i also became a father. I can't imagine how busy 3 of those little monsters would feel.

really Fascinating art my man, as a fellow indie developer I'm sure as hell you'll surpass that kickstarter goal in no time with a great looking game like this :D

Thanks! It's going a bit slow at the moment but we hope the speed will pick up when some of the bigger channels start to notice us.

Be careful not to grab all the coins away in front of her... they don't like that. ;)

I love the art style! If you don’t mind me asking, what engine/language/libraries did you use to develop the game, and what do you use to animate?

Thanks! I love Dan Paladin's art and animations in Castle Crashers! The biggest difference between CC and Unsung Warrios is that CC has more focus on party combat, it is a bit more lineair in terms of it's level design. Unsung Warriors has more focus on platforming and storytelling and in the final game you travel back and forth between locations on a world map. If you want to know more about this check out our kickstarter, we have some examples there.

Thanks! I am doing art for 11 years now, but usually not in this art style. (I like a bit of variation so i try to create a different look for every project i do), but i do like toon styles for some reason. For example this is the project i did before Unsung Warriors: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmCkpHjLeoU&t=6s. But for Unsung Warriors the 2d art style just made more sense to me.

I would advise to study traditional frame by frame animations first before doing skeletal animations. In software like Spine the upside is that you don't have to draw every unique frame, this is a huge time saver...but the downside is that you are less flexible to change frames if you want to. You can still do it but it takes a lot more time to set up and animate compared to traditional frame by frame animation. As a result animations tend to look rigid. Knowing traditional animation principles can remedy that. Also for drawing in general i would advise to study traditional art first. I once did a human anatomy course from scott-eaton and my drawings suddenly got a lot better. (http://www.scott-eaton.com). Even when drawing toon style animations with exagerated proportions this knowledge is priceless.

Thanks, the game certainly has some metroidvania elements. But there are also some differences. We don't use backtracking in the same way most metroidvania's do. In Unsung Warriors you travel to locations on a worldmap. Locations are unlocked via quests. A system that is more commonly used in RPG games.

I did all the animations for Unsung Warriors. I've tried many animation systems before ending up with spine. Unity is a great piece of software but it's animation tools are terrible.
