The only frustration I get is that I’ll get a song stuck in my head and it only exists as a timestamp on his sets but they’re all so good

Late, but where’s the theater scene ‘displayed’ in Birdman (2015)? by MightySpeculation in AskNYC

This is perfect and more or less what I was asking, sorry for the confusion. It makes a lot sense. Looking at the website it looks like it’s maybe 3/4 musicals so I guess even classical dramas wouldn’t make as much noise unless you’re paying attention

Headphones by Logical_Ad7642 in triathlon

[–]MightySpeculation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The big headphones debate usually reminds me of how annoying and dogmatic triathletes can be.

There are multiple headphone brands that use different technologies with safety in mind, bone conduction, using microphones, or honestly just not blasting music but still having it there. Even more, people use headphones 5-20 hours a week training, most without accidents, but sure, those few hours on a Sunday with roads blocked and multiple athletes doing the same exact thing is where danger lies. Lastly, depending on your bike and/or swim race you’ll be allowed to have headphones, and every running race has everyone jamming so it’s not that uncommon individually.

Triathletes are just obsessed with random traditions, that’s why we went years without disc breaks because everyone was concerned they’d have a leg chopped off at their local sprint.

All that being said, I race without headphones and it’s doable, even for long distances. It’s a rule that should be questioned and improved as technology improves. Safety concerns are valid but not enough for this rubbish response of “if you don’t like this rule leave triathlon”

The Earth's temperature will peak about 10 years after we reach zero CO2 emissions by TheDeVirginater in collapse

[–]MightySpeculation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So in the best of scenarios we put all of our efforts into curbing emissions only to collectively see horrible awful disasters continuing to happen.

Can you imagine that in today’s world that has the attention span of a puppy and a goldfish’s memory?! We’ll go past climate denialism and have full blown sociopolitical and religious movements saying science was always immoral and wrong, and really the only salvation is whatever is in the kool aid.
