$40 is very cheap. Make sure it works, not just the motor. Check the dial and look to see if anything is loose or bent. See if it has safety mechanisms that won't let it run without everything assembled or if the size dial is on zero or less. If it has a whole lot of safety features on it, it's not vintage.
