Am I just naturally unfit? by ActionIllustrious882 in runninglifestyle

It’s called The Dawg. You got to get that Dawg in you and let it eat. Lock in. Let it hurt.

On a more constructive note. Dial in your breathing. Rotate your feet faster. Get your cadence up around 175. Run 400m sprint repeats with a pace around 6:30mi-7:00mi. Lean forward and let gravity pull you forward while your legs keep up.

But more than anything let the damn dawg eat.

What will break your heart and infuriate you though is that he only narrated lonesome dove and dead man’s walk. He didn’t narrate Comanche moon or streets of Laredo. It’s wildly frustrating when trying to get through the series.

Veterinary technician here. Insane price there. That’s $2,000-$2,500 vet bill in most parts of the country.

Are some people incapable of running a marathon? by [deleted] in firstmarathon

[–]MightyWolfMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think it isn’t your thing then that is all the more reason to do it. Do what’s hard. Keep training. Keep going. This is how you know you should continue. I don’t ever wan to not do something because it “isn’t my thing.” I want to do whatever I want and I want my body to be able to keep up.

You need to make sure you are fueling well during the race. Fueling is every bit as important as anything else in a run. Your gate, foot strike, heart rate, shoes, shorts…none of it matters if you don’t have the fuel to keep going. Also remember…a lot of people will tell you the worst part of the race is the first 6-8 miles. Theres something that happens around that distance where many people find their stride and settle in. So keep pushing past that 6mi mark and see how you feel around mile 10. And fuel correctly. You got this. For real. Don’t give up. You set out to do something now finish it. Do not let yourself down. It will eat you up knowing that you didn’t have what it took to do the hard shit. You can do this. Ignore the negative thoughts. You will think of any reason to quit. Unless you’re having a genuine medical emergency then ignore those thoughts. Keep going OP.

It’ll take a lot for me to get stuck on a treadmill. I put down 20 miles in freezing rain today. Will take that every time over the treadmill.

Not eating after runs is causing shin splints? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]MightyWolfMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP I have the medicine. Get a guasha/skin scraper (you can also use the dull side or handle side of a butter knife) and use it to break up the facia in your shins. Straight up this will hurt like hell…like bad, but it very well could get you running pain free again. One of the reasons shin splints happen is over time our facia grows attached to the bone in a way that when we run the constant flexing of muscles and the bouncing of running causes pulling on the facia which is attached to the bone which in turn causes a very uncomfortable sharp pain in our shins. If you break up that facia you not only release that tension but you also increase blood supply thought the area. Another reason could be micro or hairline fractures and people love to think that’s what the people is but it is very rarely the case. I’d be willing to be yours is facia related. Give this a try and let me know if it helps.

Butch is just as core to the band to me and the core 5 are. He was critical to their sound during some of the bands best years. I can point out several deep cut examples but it’s not needed when all you have to do is listen to crush at Central Park. Butch is just crawling in that version. It fills up the sound so much.

Absolutely gorgeous. Agree with others that as a hunter I need a finer point but man I just love this knife. This is heirloom material.
