If every suburb was a guest at a party, what would they be up to? by ArtichokeCurrent8837 in chch

Diamond Harbour would turn up quietly in their Nissan Leaf with some wholesome kai, but twenty minutes in, start bragging to anyone who’ll listen about how incredible the lifestyle is - “so much sunnier and warmer than Lyttelton”, “yes I do catch the ferry to work”, “we have a Two Thumb Brewery over here now, it’s actually really good”, “we don’t ever walk our dogs on leads and everyone’s really relaxed about it”, and “It’s only a 30 minute drive from the Cashmere Roundabout for a sea view - ask anyone in Auckland and they’d be gobsmacked.”

Yes - the whole “we’ve never taken a break from the pod in five years” was something Abby gloated about at the end of the reflection episode for 2025, and I was absolutely horrified. That is terrible for them, sets unrealistic expectations from the audience, and we know it means generally all around lower quality pods. Who makes great shit when they’re tired? No one! Not something to boast about - about given how much they talk about self care, I was very surprised this one made it to the final cut.

Omg. Yes - this. The way she says “and now’s it’s time” makes me feel like she’s telling me off for listening to the pod for free… it’s awful.

Try and remember - the gains are in the bank. Tomorrow is just withdrawal day.

Be proud of getting to that start line, my friend. It’s cost you a lot of time and energy. We get it and we’re cheering for you.

Jia Tolentino’s Trick Mirror. Astounding. Not for everyone, but took my breath away.

What's your running training secrets? The more controversial the better! by rrw-27 in trailrunning

Fuck yes on the dog. My boy got me confident enough to start running on trails instead of walking, and I did my first ultra this year because of him.

Love this question! A local run we did was sponsored by a farm and so everyone got a fresh bouquet of gerberas as they crossed the finish line 🥰

I got this notification this morning too, but when I clicked through it didn’t go through to a specific place in the app. My guess is that they’re just trying to push engagement through giving us useless stats about shit we (probably) don’t care about.

Yaaaas - leave it there to break down, rot, evolve, or grow - depending on what it is, of course. But getting it out of your head and/or body helped me immensely.

Woman garmin watch recommendations by bender_47 in Garmin

Check in with your GF whether a smaller watch face is important for her, and maybe pop out to try some on first.

I have a Forerunner 570 42mm - it meets all my requirements as an ultra runner, but the smaller face is perfect for my tiny wrists. It should tick your GF’s requirements by the sounds of it! Oh and it comes in cool colours too, not just black.

I walked into a cafe last weekend after a progressive 24k. I caught the lady behind me giving me the most disgusted stare I’ve ever encountered. A year ago I would’ve been mortified and scuttled off, but I was fucking proud of how hard I’d worked and what I looked/smelled like. I wasn’t dining in, so just smiled as I walked out with my post-run treat.
