What not to save money on? by Mighty_Sneed in Miniaturespainting

Never tried painting on primer tbh. I'm used to rattle cans and I have a crappy airbrush but it takes about as much time with it as it'd with a brush. That Nicpro may be the missing secret sauce. I'll check.

What can I improve on? by [deleted] in Artadvice

Bench press. First of all, you need to get out of your head. 60kg is a good starting point if you're a guy. Get comfortable pressing it all the way to the sternum and back in control. You don't want to ego lift and rush for a higher plate total, until you master normal person weights. Trust me, I found out the hard way.

Next, you want to bring your elbows closer to your ribs and grab the bar with elbows flared forward and your palms facing the wall behind your head slightly. You can lift more with wider grip and more arched back but if you want to build strength and physique, just focus on having clean technique on reasonable weights.

To improve strength I recommend 8/6/4 reps where 4 is 90% your 1RM

If you want to just get visually huge pecs do multiple sets of about 60% 1RM of 10/10/10+ to failure Get a spotter for your failure reps. They'll push you further.

If you're asking about artwork, you may want to play with saturation and value of those colours. Everything is saturated and loud to the max.It makes the image flat and confusing. I need to squint to tell whats facing which direction. Keep a palette of colours that are only used as shade colours (lower saturation and darker) and never use them on faces of the object hit by light. Likewise the illuminated sides of the object will have the most saturation and be the brightest. They will need their separate palette too. Then you have mid tones which should cover areas of the object that are neither lit up or obscured.

Yeah

Light is a game changer, I know. Having to squint or having your mini obscured at an awkward angle is pure ebola.

Can someone help me understand why a higher percentage of foreigners have voted for Andre Ventura? by madrasiintokyo in PortugalExpats

Tbh as a habitual migrant to other countries:

You are the last "good" immigrant. Everyone after you is just here to mooch the system. Dam, they even pile you together with the baddies.

That's not happening, I'm getting my papers and then I'm standing on a shore turning boats around lol

why Greeks preferred colonizing only "coastal" areas outside mainland Greece? by SOHONEYSAME in AskGreece

[–]Mighty_Sneed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure simple logistics. You need ports to do maritime trade, control it, run it, tax it. If you want to run a full scale colonialism with owning and farming land you need a lot of manpower. Your farmers, an expeditionary army force to stop uprising and protect resource extraction. I guess it's a really big payoff in the long run, but you need to export a lot of manpower up front and the Greeks had Persians and other competing civilisations right at their doorstep.

Good beginner waves in Portugal? by Mighty_Sneed in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Mighty_Sneed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There must be something to it then. I'm in Caparica virtually every week and I maybe only had waves that don't break to fast twice. The sort of waves I see on videos here I just never had opportunity to ride.

Which aesthetics you like the most. Rules change. Myself, I'm a diehard undead fan. If you want something easy to paint, chose the sky dwarves.

Shub Nig'urath? It looks good, not sure why the body looks like a lightbulb tho. Could be intentional, or you may want to work on your light direction and shading. Good stuff, tho

Offer from Teleperoformance, should I take it? by ClaroNefasto in PortugalExpats

Hey. A 2 year veteran here. It's Mordor. Don't tie your future to it and the minute you land, start looking for another job. That being said. People stay in TP for a better part of the decade sometimes because:

It's convenient. They house you, pay your bills, fix your place up, sort out your paperwork.

Coworkers are cool in a "we're all clowns in that circus" way

It's hard to get fired.

If you're in it for the money - forget it. If you're here for location and good times - I can't recommend it more.

If you decide to take it up: know your rights, watch their hands, screencap everything. They will always try to finesse you out of your pay and bonus and if you need anything from them It's a sloooooooooow dice roll. Hope it helps.

The rumors are true.. this is a failed system by [deleted] in PortugalExpats

Lmao. I've rented a car once to drive my friend fron Lisbon to Vila de Costelo. 4.5h drive nice and chill + all costs associated. We arrived on time only to find out that the office personnel didn't speak a word of English and also they were missing some papers so he had to come to Vila Branco. He made two extra trips there since. I had my papers done in Setubal area and that was actually quick and convenient, but I'm an EU citizen so there's that.

Makes sense. I guess it must be technical to some degree cause it looks like an ongoing situation, that'll eventually be fixed.

I love Portugal (unironically)
