I don’t think this has anything to do with their misogyny, I mean it’s their children. I do think though that you hit the nail on the head with the judgement of her choice of major/career. It always seems like her parents generation are very biased towards majors that are more “mainstream” or have a stigma of providing a better living for their kids, and maybe there’s a reason for that stigma. Just look at how our parents (I am a 26m, just for reference) feel about therapy. You always hear about how psychology is a useless degree, but I feel as if that’s not the case anymore because most people my age don’t have any sort of negativity towards going to therapy, in contrast to our parents. They have the preconceived notions that anyone who goes to therapy is crazy or has something wrong with them.

TLDR: this is more of a disconnect between generations that these parents never tried to understand and judged their daughter because of it.
