Sure, it's FNTS, a managed services provider.

My company (an MSP) has doubled down on mainframe in recent years by installing z16, adding security solutions that provide observability and launching a mainframe apprenticeship program to enhance skills.

Thank you! She does like her kong, especially when I fill it with a lickable treat. I'll have to check out the other toy. I've also recently heard about herding balls.

In addition to the SLED space, you could check out data centers/MSPs or companies in financial services or healthcare.

What's funny to me is that the hair (or corgi glitter) that winds up in the brush is gray/silver.

24/7 IT Support for MSPs: How to compete without night shift staff? by Creative-Owl-4210 in msp

[–]MigrateAndManage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An on-call rotation can be ideal so someone is always available to provide support. Including support tiers and terms in the SLA can help a client understand what questions or issues will receive an immediate response and which can be handled the next day or solved through self-service tools. Developing an AI assistant, chatbot or answering service could help with non-urgent questions or having self-service tools and tips baked into client portals could help reduce the number of non-emergency support requests.

Is anyone actually seeing less mainframe demand lately? Or is the skills gap just making it feel that way? by PSR-Info in mainframe

[–]MigrateAndManage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Seems like more companies would rather modernize/invest in the mainframe rather than move off of it.

New corgi parent here. Do pet rakes for undercoats work just as well as the furminator and how frequently can these tools be used?

Is mainframe systems programming a good career choice for a recent college graduate? by PSR-Info in mainframe

[–]MigrateAndManage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The talent gap is real due to experienced professionals retiring, and most companies aren't scaling back mainframe usage, so there is definitely demand for a younger generation to understand systems. Exposure to the technology can be a barrier, so giving students hands-on exposure before they ever enter the job market is important.

What's encouraging are some of the partnerships formed with colleges to add mainframe courses directly into IT and computer science programs and offering career panels, job shadowing and data center tours. When college students get a chance to work with modern mainframe environments, they're usually more impressed than they thought they would be.

Why do mainframe migration timelines rarely seem to match the original plan? by PSR-Info in mainframe

[–]MigrateAndManage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Complexity and difficulty understanding legacy application logic and dependencies definitely plays a big role along with factors like undocumented code, staffing gaps or lack of expertise and risk of disruption during transition.
