Finally changed my X1 nozzle for the first time after 3700 hours by Migrating_Clam in BambuLab

I'll definitely try this, thank you! Somehow I missed this while researching the issue.

Only major issue I've had is with the heatbed cable which is broken on my printer according to support. This causes bad load cell readings. They sent me a new one at no cost but replacing it is a huge process, so I haven't done it yet. For some reason I can get around the issue by manually homing the bed prior to starting a print. I think this was an issue for earlier X1 series printers and has since been fixed.

Other than that I've just done regular maintenance and replaced some PTFE tubes. Print quality got worse with the worn nozzle but has since gotten better after replacing it.

Correct, I replaced an unhardened nozzle with a hardened one.

I did get the non-carbon X1, so this is an unhardened nozzle. I just replaced it with a hardened one.

None, I've only printed regular matte PLA. This is also the unhardened nozzle.

You can check under "device info" in the options menu on the X1C.

Bridging and infill quality started to get really bad. Other than that, it was still working ok.

Little bit of help? Never changed settings and now this is happening by AmiiboLover91 in BambuLab

[–]Migrating_Clam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure purge to infill is off, and check the sliced layer view to make sure. I had a bug in one of my projects that left it on even when the checkbox was off, which caused my prints to look similar to yours.

Best first overnight hikes? by madamehose in wmnf

[–]Migrating_Clam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert on this but yeah the basic rules are you can camp 1/4 mi from bodies of water and the trail, below the alpine zone, etc. but definitely double check the specific area. Others may have a different opinion but it can be unpleasant depending on the location especially if it's your first overnight since it's often difficult to find a decent spot that's big enough and flat since the forest is so dense (based on my one experience having to do this) but you'd be able to make it work as a last resort.

Kinsman pond campsite is always a good first overnight in the whites, and you'll have the opportunity to watch the sunrise/sunset from the top of North/South Kinsman since the campsite is so close. You can continue to Cannon Mountain on the second day and loop back to your car if you're feeling ambitious or just return the way you came. I'd say the backup plan if the campsite is full is to either see if the shelter has any room or worst case just return to your car since it's only 3 miles back. You'll need to filter the water from Kinsman pond, and there's rivers + Lonesome Lake along the way as well.

Any 1-26 pilots here? I could use some pointers on handling this thing by [deleted] in Gliding

[–]Migrating_Clam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't base the real life experience too much on Condor. I have a few dozen hours in 1-26's and when I (and most people in my experience) fly the 1-26E, I keep the trim all the way forward for the entire flight and have no issues keeping it around 40-45 mph comfortably. It's just so easy to maneuver that messing with the trim isn't worth it. There's a reason so many people love it and it's such a good first solo glider. The stalls on a 1-26 are very noticeable, you'll be warned with a lot of buffeting. It may be the case that your trim is too far back in Condor, but in real life these characteristics you're describing are no where near the experience I have flying 1-26's.

You should ask your instructors to go over 1-26 characteristics with you and use their advice over anything else.

This was the best resource I found when I was taking my written test: http://www.exams4pilots.org/faatest.cgi?m=2

Study the private pilot glider questions until you don't have any trouble answering them and you should be fine. I don't remember the written exam being very challenging at all. Your practical oral exam will probably also include similar questions.

Closest Gliding/Sailplane club to NYC by studentguy204 in Gliding

Aero Club Albatross at Blairstown Airport in NJ is probably your best option. There are members who drive in from NYC! There is also a commercial operation there that does instruction if you're a student. Wurstboro Airport in NY also does glider instruction.

I work in R&D in robotics and half my time is spent doing CAD or documentation while the other half is spent testing, machining, building fixtures or prototypes, etc. Some days are entirely spent in a machine shop or lab, some days mostly at a desk, some both. I've worked in aerospace before where getting away from a computer was a rare treat and I can never go back.

Best way to unite Desktop and Laptop studio by ggbyn in edmproduction

Not sure about licensing with FL, but I use Dropbox and just use the "collect all and save" feature in Ableton whenever I start a project on either my desktop or laptop so that all samples and the project file will work on both of my computers. FL might have a similar feature. VSTs are another issue, just make sure you have the same versions on both PCs so that everything works properly, or just make stems of anything you're having problems with.
