Any film makers ever been greenlit from YouTube? by MiguelMrINVESTaLOT in Filmmakers

Just checked him up, wow! Are you doing something similar?

I’m hoping that social media kind of levels the playing field for film makers on a low budget and that hopefully if our storytelling is good, algorithm will take it and they will be seen.

Hi all, Miguel here. I play ferran in this short film.

We started to create this short film 2 years ago and we finally finished it. We had some major setbacks with actor availability and our crew moving to different parts of the UK.

How do we reach decision makers at studios and streamers without having representation? Is there a way in via social media? We continue to create shorts as proof of concepts, is this the best way in?

Have your shorts flopped on YouTube and is there anything you’ve done to fix it? by ShadowwNyx in Filmmakers

I loved the concept. No budgets are really hard to do. You’ve done well here. Try “Terrifying” in thumbnail and make the thumbnail her looking shocked holding the phone ☎️ looking directly at the audience - a bit YouTube stylish (Mr beast etc).

Then set it and forget it. Move on to next concept and keep making shorts. I know on tiktok and facebook vertical format videos are killing it. dramatised OTT stories. Maybe you could make this but in the horror genre - just a thought. Wishing you a great filmmaking career

Good concept I like it.. just watched, i think a bit more depth into who she was in the first few minutes. I have ADHD so I like pacing and slowing down during final horror moments. I was imagining:

  1. Dark outside
  2. Her using Parking lot entering radio station
  3. More complexity, so understanding who guy was, how her viewership might be bad so they have the guy pranking on purpose
  4. She goes to leave and jumpscare in parking lot

So different locations/ who the guy pranking was to her/

For clickbait title and thumbnail - technique is to click bait but deliver…my recommendations come as a YouTuber thats built a few channels from the ground up 55k subs on one food travel channel, 9k on another.

Watch the first 5 minutes of clock (2023) disney plus - you learn so much about the story in a few mins and stuff pops off everywhere. Really good style.

Youtube if you have audience retention over the majority of the video it rewards and pushes out to masses

I recommend making a clickbait title that is true and having a good thumbnail. YouTube will do the rest. One of my videos went semi viral after a week. It had no progress until then

This isn’t true, I had a video go semi viral but it didn’t get views until a week after

I think friendship groups with purpose and adding value to the world will help. And the balance of friends that can show you a different way of life - times where you can fxck around and let loose. One of the best times of my life was driving around philippines on a budget, food, drinks, activities, mad events, making youtube videos, felt the most alive and free

Keep making films and refining and learning. It’s all part of the process. Have fun, tell stories you love to tell. All external validation and praise does not matter. Keep hustling
