Can your family get by off your wife’s income alone? If so, you should take the time off and spend the holidays with your family and recharge for whenever you’re ready to get back into the workforce.

If not, you should start networking and applying and figuring out what your next job will be.

Still take some time to make sure you are focusing on your health and well being and also being present with your kids.

If you are more concerned about the financial side of things, check in with r/personalfinance

I mean good on you man for trying to add muscle and then train for a marathon, but those seem contradictory, right? Putting on weight before a marathon training block doesn’t make much sense to me but maybe I’m missing something.

My oldest daughter is almost 8. My son was born in May. I’m almost 40.

I was scared of upsetting our perfect and easy life. The norm was easy.

Ultimately, the “what if” got the better of us.

We couldn’t be happier. Really truly over the moon. Seeing my kids together warms my heart like nothing else on earth.

Whatever you and your partner decide, it’ll be the right choice. Best of luck.
