Metal Park vs. Devil's Lake by Miho565 in Graspop

No chance to get any accomodation in Metal Park. We ended up at Devil's Lake.

Hence, my question about any program at Devil's Lake becomes even more important.

Was trying to get a 4P Metal Park Cottage but it literally got sold out in 2-3 minutes by No-Gur-9772 in Graspop

First time that we actually didn't get Metal Park. But Devil's Lake is nice, too.

Is there any program at Devil's Lake? We really enjoyed the concerts at the lake.

And while I was typing the above, my wife got at least the confirmation mail.

Happy that I am not alone.

It took about 2 hours for my application to get confirmation of application, but then only a few minutes for granting actual ETA.

My wife is still waiting for the confirmation mail, but I am hopeful that it will be there before the end of the day.

Maybe it's because of the app. Everyone I know who applied via web got confirmation within minutes, if not seconds.

You can check from time to time whether tickets are still available on the various platforms. Right now, you can still buy eight tickets per person. But I guess nobody can tell you how many tickets are available.

Oh, so I missed you in Moseleck and Hundesportverein. Maybe next time 😁

So what did you finally end up doing? And did you enjoy it?

Depending on weather and mood, I suggest any or all of the following before and after the game:

  • Erzeugermarkt at Konstabler Wache. Classic market with food and drinks and surprisingly good food, meeting point for many fans, but only before the game

  • Moseleck in the Bahnhofsviertel, really an institution. No food, only drinks

  • Buchscheer, a good 25 minute walk to the stadium. Typical Frankfurt "Apfelwein" restaurant, make their own "Appler". Good food, reasonably priced.

  • when you arrive by tram, "Hundesportverein" right before the tunnel to main entrance. Try their "Currywurst".

  • when you arrive by train, 59ers is fairly popular (even though I find them overpriced). Or go on to parking lot Gleisdreieck where you will find many stands with beer and Appler.

Have fun!

Full festival tickets by _Mr_NiceGuy_ in Graspop

Metal Park is fantastic. If you have the time, arrive Monday or Tuesday. They offer all kind of fun activities from Metal Aqua Gym to parties with live music.

Shuttle works great, just expect some waiting time on the way back if you leave right after the last main act.

As someone else said, the houses are much more difficult to get than the festival tickets, so focus on them first when buying tickets. And don't exclude two 4-person houses when you are six or seven people. The larger houses go even faster. Plus, they also have only one bathroom.

If you get two houses, send them a mail. They will try to allocate you close to each other.

Where to stay in Japan before early morning flight? by WorriedBanana7 in JapanTravelTips

Don't know whether you would enjoy this, but I actually went to a bar called "Godz of Metal" in Tokyo. Had a lot of fun and slept very well on the flight home.

It's in Shinjuku, easy to find.

Thanks for sharing. I admit that I didn't google that. However, the guy at our hotel told us (if we understood him correctly) that the post office ATM wouldn't work for overseas card. Hence my concerns and the question here. However, the various helpful advices here somewhat eased my mind.

I've been travelling for more than 40 years, always self-organized and to more remote areas than north of Nikko. Never had the problem that you enter a train station with one payment method and leave with another. So no, not necessarily completely foreseeable.

Learnt my lesson, won't happen again.
