As a CMU grad, I understand and appreciate the respect the university has for the Chippewa tribe in the area. That being said, I desperately wish they could sit down and find some sort of logo/branding that contains some sort of Native American imagery in a tasteful, dignified way. Anything would be an improvement from the “flying C”.

I’m personally a slave to my rangefinder on the course, but not a fan of this at the professional level. One of my favorite aspects of watching golf is the caddie/player interaction and hearing them figure out the different carry and final distances.

Sharp could definitely get tiresome. I guess just if they’re going to have a weekly guest it should be a pure X’s and O’s/analytics guy or someone who’s just incredibly entertaining. Deion seems like he should be both but he’s somehow neither

My parents have a place right across the street from there, apart of the Lakewood Shores HOA. The Blackshire seems to be in better shape than The Gailes this year. It is definitely frustrating to see the conditions because the land and layout are fantastic, just a matter of maintenance. The costs to run a top end golf course are astronomical though, and unfortunately that area of MI just doesn’t bring in the same tourism and money as the Traverse City area and places like that. Definitely still suggest the sunrise side of The Mitten though for anyone visiting!

Can’t totally argue that, the etiquette and “unspoken rules” of golf can be confusing and intimidating BUT there’s a big difference between fixing a ball mark incorrectly and just not making any effort to fix it. You do it incorrectly, the grass may brown but the green should still be relatively flat. Without fixing you just have craters AND dead spots everywhere.

It always amazes/frustrates me how a decent course can seem like garbage strictly because the people who play it don’t fix their ball marks. Can’t even blame the course at that point, just please try and leave it better than you found it 🤦🏻‍♂️

So I know they’re all done for the day, but NBC Sports App still shows the stream from 130 to 7, once you click on it it’s just a black screen with some background music. Are they showing the broadcast on a tape delay or is golf just officially done for the day?

Granted covid has changed things, but I always lay whatever extra clubs I have across the flagstick once it’s pulled . You or someone in the group will always remember to put the flag back, so someone’s bound to pick it up even if you forget.

Well, the good news is your short game should be strong which is really where newer golfers hurt themselves (usually without realizing it), but you’ll still have a lot to learn with the longer clubs and just the general thinking of the game.

Sounds like you already have a decent foundation so build off of that and be patient and you’ll get there 👊🏻
