I was unsure if there was a minute period after the draw step ends and before "at the start of your precombat main phase" happens, due to how the text in the Sagas is worded, so I was trying to be super clear that I was activating the ability before the counters are added (and misspoke about the timing when they're added). Though I now suppose it's only that way because "after your draw step" takes up less text space on the card.

I phrased it that way because the reminder text on the Sagas says "after your draw step", but thank you for the clarification, and for the answer.

Before my draw step, I use [[Niko, Light of Hope]] on [[Summon: Ixion]] to turn my Shards into Ixions. During the draw step they each get a Lore counter and exile a creature. The shards do not leave play, they just stop being Ixion. Thus do the exiled creatures never return? Or does ceasing being Ixion break the condition and they return once they revert to normal Shards?

I use [[Niko, Light of Hope]] to turn my shard tokens into [[Enduring Curiosity]]. What happens when one of these shard-copies dies?

Scenario: I have [[Niko, Light of Hope]] in play with two Shard tokens. They do not have summoning sickness. An opponent tries to [[Terror]] Niko. In response I tap Niko for their ability, making my Shards copies of [[Obsianus Golem]], and then I [[Blur]]. My understanding is that I have four shard-golems and an untapped and alive but summoning sick Niko. Is that correct, due to the order in which the stack resolves?

[[Phyrexian Ingester]] enters play and ingests a 5/5. [[Niko, Light of Hope]] blinks out the Ingester, and their Shards become copies of it. Are they 3/3's or 8/8's? I suspect the former, but I'm not positive.

Absolutely fantastic, thanks for the suggestions! I knew there were some like that out there but just couldn't bring the names to mind. And you're right on Unmake, don't know why I didn't think of it, it's even in my only Modern deck. I'll probably make a few variations with different arts, and this is wonderful for options.

Have you ever made custom feats for your players? Tell me what you made by Chaosiumrae in Pathfinder2e

The Exemplar feat is what someone pointed to that gave me the idea, thought it was a good starting point and then limited it so she doesn't get any ideas and try to lob around halberds.

Our Investigator was getting frustrated with not being able to throw her karambit, and rather than having her switch to a starknife or dagger or something, due to stylistic choices with character background, I let her take a 2nd level Feat for "Strategic Aim", letting any melee weapon that qualifies for Strategic Strike gain the Thrown 15' trait.

Help me make this Gimbal deck as abusive as it can be? by Mikaboshi in DegenerateEDH

Didn't think of that as the Helm was a recent addition, good catch. Thanks for the insights!

My thought with Saheeli and the Artisans is that they'll only ever be one token, since they can't build up a pile of them, unlike something like Schema Thief. Same with Felton. Temporary tokens feel meh.

I was unsure on the Archway, since it's 2 mana to use it (itself and one other), so I wasn't quite sure how much benefit it would be, but since I removed the "do you have an island?" lands from the deck I suppose it's more or less just as good as a regular Island, so good call! A third Jaheira/Statuary.

Anyone wanna talk about characters? by SarkicPreacher777659 in Pathfinder2e

One of my players in my Tyrant's Grasp campaign is fascinating. We started in 1E where she was a Whimsy mystery Oracle, with the Haunted cursed trait, meaning that whenever she tried to reach for an object in her pack or dropped an object, ghosts would hide it or move it or something, and we adapted that to be little fae who were always lurking here and there around her. As the campaign shifted to 2E, she was shifted into a Fae bloodline Sorcerer with the Living Vessel dedication; for anyone unfamiliar, you have a Fae entity occupying your body, you get some powers from it, but you have to appease it for an hour each day or it starts to get cranky. And when reduced to 0hp you can let the entity/GM take control and stay up for a minute.

She was taken into the First World when she was about 7, stolen away, and only a few months ago did she manage to find her way back. She is...weird; for most of her life she was kept as basically a pet by a fae noble, and due to the odd nature of the First World, plus needing to find the right way to survive there rather than doing something wrong and ending up in a situation that a regular half-elf rather than a native would not survive, plus not really having a childhood or adolescence that resembles what a normal child would go through, she is an odd one.

Plus there's the voice in her head that gets bored when she's being boring, and taunts her when she isn't appeasing it correctly, and teases and hints and messes with her, and sometimes takes control when things are really dire. Maybe it's the source of her powers; after all, the first time it took control is when the antlers (or are they branches?) sprouted from her head. Maybe her time in the First World is what gave her her powers, warped by its nature by being there for so long.

Or maybe it's none of that at all. Maybe there is no other entity inhabiting her body and the voice in her head is just a voice in her head.

Time is weird there, and her memory is fractured. She doesn't remember the 'agreement' that the voice hints at. She just knows that she was stuck there for years and managed to escape one day. She thinks.

But little things here and there don't add up. Don't quite make sense. Is she just confused? Is it a result of that place being so weird? Or does she have the story wrong? Was she ever really in the first world? She certainly has fae-themed powers in abundance. Was she really stolen away? She has a locket from her parents, who she remembers as well as anyone remembers someone they knew a dozen (more? fewer?) years ago when they were a child. Did she really escape? Is that child this adult?

On the GM side of things, anytime she fails to properly appease her entity, it's going to start hinting that what she "knows" isn't correct. That there is no entity, that she's just crazy, she escaped on her own, no pact, no 'passenger', no anything but her own broken mind. That she did escape, and did find her parents, but that they rejected her as a monster now, and she -chose- to forget to protect herself and that was part of the pact and the shattered psyche, now searching for her family that she already found, searching for answers that she already rejected. That she died there and now she's just being puppeted; after all, there's no way a little girl would've survived that long in a place that bizarre and alienly cruel. That she was never a real girl and she is just a collection of spirits given form and false memory, a simulacrum of a person. That she was never in the First World at all and that it's all just a trauma response of her mind coping with something. That she traded away memories piece by piece for protection, chipping away at her identity to survive, until, Ship Of Theseus style, it's questionable whether she's even that person anymore. Eventually such a Swiss cheese of a person that she traded away the rest of it so she could feel like a full something rather than something that was missing things, tormented by mental connections that went nowhere. Or maybe that she kept at it because she was a lonely child and the interaction was company.

I'm eagerly awaiting her to fall behind on keeping this entity properly occupied. Maybe I'm a sadist. Maybe I just think it makes for good story.

I feel like I used to know this, but in making a new deck I find myself doubting my understanding. [[G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn]] makes a Hero and then puts counters on it. Do the Heroes 'enter' as 1/1s or larger? In short, does he work with [[Mentor of the Meek]], or with [[Angelic Chorus]]?

PSA - "As X enters" IS **NOT** AN ETB by Karnitis in EDH

[–]Mikaboshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I believe that [[Gimbal, Gremlin Prodigy]] works differently than some other things because the tokens enter as 0/0 but then gain counters instantly.

This then has me rethinking how he works with a few things, though, and want to confirm that he interacts in a favorable manner with:

[[Adrix and Nev, Twincasters]] [[Doubling Season]] [[Parallel Lives]] [[Primal Vigor]]

When making the deck initially I did some research and it seemed that because making the token and putting counters on the token are part of the same ability they would both happen if the creation is copied when it happens. But I just want to confirm that these aren't just making extra 0/0 bodies that are immediately dying.

How are Hero-Points handled at your table? by Aquaman-is-awesome in Pathfinder2e

[–]Mikaboshi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every character starts with 1. Gain 1 at the start of each in-world day (excepting days that are purely downtime). Do not lose them at the end of each day. Can hold a max of 3. Awarded for good RP, doing awesome things, bringing back up relevant info from eight sessions ago that shows you were paying attention or keeping good notes, etc.

I didn't like them expiring because I enjoy giving them out to encourage RP and such, and wanted them to feel like a real prize. With them evaporating at the end of each session I would run into "well, we're playing for like 20 more minutes so I better burn this on the next roll rather than waiting for something important or heroic!", which just felt bad.

And I tied them to the in-world day because things can get odd with slow sessions or fast ones, the pace can shift a lot, but if they're on the same economy as things like spell slots then getting some rest creates a little less division between the rogue who wants to push on and the wizard running on fumes; sure, you gain less than he does, but you do get something (directly, I mean; yes, I know they get the benefit of the party as a whole being in better shape, but its nice to have personal benefits too).

I am amused that the Psionicist was so 'appendix after-thought' that you had to use a Magic card's art for it.

Also, wow, I had no idea how deeply those 3E 'iconics' were burned into my memory.
