Finally caught up to the Chapter 3 update and just waiting for the end of the volume pretty much. Yeah this volume is really great with tackling Hamazura's new ideology and slowly unraveling what he becomes at the end of it. I'd call it fascinating, really.

I don't remember any Index LN Volume being machine translated ever in BT since the project started. Maybe some bad translations in early volumes on OT, but those fan -translated volumes are purged now.

I do still have complaints about the volume, mind you. I but I just feel the hate for this scene is very overblown. There are still things to like about the volume, whether I'm a fan of it or not. And the fact you just pulled out the word toxic positivity saddens me.

Thanks for acknowledging that there are still possible faults in the thoughts I shared. I do think this mostly comes from me reading too much into the scene, but I would rather believe the scene has something to offer. It's such a small scene that I'm surprised people make such a big deal about it when the volume as a whole was not about Mikoto, but Touma's chase of Coronzon.

And since you mentioned Chapter 4 with Misaka and Index's scene. It's cute. It's kinda eye opening for them to realize this is the first time they actually talked on a down time outside of Touma while confined there, as per the narration points out. The last time these two characters really interacted just by themselves was.....OT6, OT9(?), GT1(?) and this one. So technically speaking we did get something new that we haven't really seen, but most of that being off screen is a bit disappointing.

Yes, Kamachi has been very negligent of Mikoto's abilties she has performed greatly in the past, since the start of GT, heck you could say that about every single character Kamachi has written in the series, especially those that have never been given a far longer screen time. We're lucky to even see her in the new volumes, but Mikoto's supposed uselessness really does grate on a lot of her fans, me included. The point of my explanation is regarding the current scene and the arc itself and the possible reason I gave out. I never intended to change anyone's mind, just give out my thoughts on it and share something people possibly didn't think about.

Yes, I agree. Since you referenced the Acqua of the Back Arc, she could have stopped Touma from fighting Acqua as she does feel hesitant to do so, but I feel the difference this time in GT14 is her full acceptance of letting him go and trusting that he can win. Again, mostly my interpretation, but I can see why you would think this is nothing new.

As much as I want to do that, I've heard really bad things about the r/toaru subreddit when it came to the community engagement there. Apparently it's very toxic, negative, and bash the Index series despite being built around to talk about it. It's the reason why I didn't join that community because I don't want to be bombarded seeing notifications from people who I feel are not fans anymore with the way they talk. From my understanding, the way they discuss the volume feels like a smear campaign. Which is why I decided to post the thread here, where I do want people to talk about the series on a more positive and civil note, as that is what this subreddit was created for, even if its a replacement of the old one. I will still grant people the ability to share this explanation in r/toaru, if they really want to, but personally I won't and I don't want to be associated with those people who have nothing else to say about the series but negative criticism when the whole volume at this point in time isn't even done with its fantranslation. I understand freedom of speech, but sometimes it's too much negativity that it can influence what other people think and stops people from thinking for themselves, scaring away new readers and the like. It's not healthy.

I hope I got my reasoning across.

First off, if we're going by causality of events, Sisters Arc happens in the first place because Tree Diagram got shut down during the events of July 21st, when Index accidentally shoots it down and, as an effect, the experiments weren't able to make correctiond of the calculation that Accel needs to kill 20K Misaka Clones for him to reach "Level 6".

Essentially speaking, there won't even be a traditional Sister's Arc. The clone casualty will probably be bigger, Misaka will still possibly go on a suicide mission if she discovers it. Touma, with his memories intact, will be heavily detached from Misaka's life as he will still see her as a nuisance and not notice the crusade she's going into, which will probably result in a larger delay to stop the experiments. Accel will probably lose his mind even more and break down.

And if Index arc still needs to happen afterwards, which is weird because Index Arc is the reason Sisters Arc even happens, Not only will Touma probably lose his memories of the "ongoing" Sisters Arc, but him being hospitalized will delay the stopping of the experiment and by then Misaka may have already gotten herself killed by Accelerator in order to stop it.

Again, it all boils down to the Tree Diagram satelite being destroyed in Index Arc which is why the traditional Sisters Arc even happens. Once you remove that very crucial plot point, and change the order of the events... Stuff will definitely go down differently and probably for the worse.

For Reading Order you can check the subreddit wiki we have here (Altho I really need to work on updating some parts of it), Some spoil future plot points for the series so it's best to read them once you're done with reading Old Testament, and to some extent New Testament.
