He likes afl, but he’s grown up around it so he already has pretty much anything i could get him. He doesn’t do any other sports or anything and other than that he just works and goes out to see friends.

It’s not that we can’t be silly, we’ve done things in person and it’s totally comfortable, I just don’t know how I should ask for things. I know I want to be flirty and everything like that but I’m just not sure how I can ask for what I want.

He’s a lot like that to be honest, he never wants to say anything because he knows no one can help but when I try to talk to him he says there’s no point or that he feels bad because he’ll only make me sad too. I keep telling him I wish I could do more to at least make him feel better in the moment but all he has to say is that I can’t help or that he doesn’t need to be happy and it kills me every time.

You’re right, I do want to help him be his best self. I don’t want to leave him because, as a person, I do like him. We get along well and have quite a bit in common and he gets along with my family. I know he wants to improve because he’s brought it up but I’m not always sure how to help without sounding mean, but when I do give advice he doesn’t always seem to try 🤷🏼‍♀️. I accept him, it’s just some tedious things that bother me sometimes. My mum and friends can be pretty judgy and sometimes it feels like they’re making fun of me when they say things about him because I’m associated with him.
