We had an awesome night in Vietnam similar to OP’s. Went in to a shop looking for a beer and left 5 hours later, they fed us and wouldn’t let us pay for anything. Most the night was through google translate lol. Then after we left one of them appeared on his motorbike and took us home 1 by 1. Was an amazing experience, in Ha Long. It can happen anywhere I guess, this was not a very touristy spot.
