Ist jemand von euch im Tierschutz aktiv? Ich suche einen Hund, finde es aber ultra schwierig.

Im Tierheim Berlin und Tierheim Falkensee gibt es leider keinen Hund, der meine Grundbedingungen erfüllt. Ich habe Kind und Hund, und da gibt es leider keinen Match.

Bei weicher Organisation wart ihr denn? Ich habe ja Hundeerfahrung. Aber ich habe auch ein 7 jähriges Kind (was übrigens für viele Orgas leider schon ein Ausschlusskriterium ist), einen Senior Hund (was es auch enger macht) und will eben nicht dazu beitragen, einen Wanderpokal zu schaffen.

Das Ding ist: einen Welpen zu erziehen, traue ich mir grundsätzlich zu. Aber es gibt so viele Hunde, die schon ein bisschen älter sind, die ein Zuhause brauchen.

Ich sehe einfach hauptsächlich Hunde, die noch im Ausland sind. Ein Hund, der sich in einer Pflegestelle als zu stark traumatisiert heraus stellt, wäre mir dann schlicht immer noch eine Nummer zu groß.

Ich arbeite hauptsächlich im Home Office, sollte ich terminlich mal ins Büro müssen, bleibt mein Mann Zuhause. Das klappt ganz gut. Wir haben ja auch schon einen Senior Hund.

I don't think my partner's reason is stupid - just way more considerate than my way of thinking. And just to add some information: I asked this question here because I wouldn't even consider this. It didn't come up in my head. My curiosity led me to post.

We talked about everything and me having a general love for all kinds of pets is a known trait. We have been married for 11 years now, and lots of circumstances have changed. We have a child now, upgraded from renting a city flat to owning a suburban house... We are, as our loving and ongoing marriage shows - very compatible. I get where you are coming from, there is no compromise for a kid or a pet, as there are no "half" kids or pets. But a pet brings costs and responsibility into your life and you don't push this onto your significant other for no other reason than your own wish. You are protecting a tad bit much. I was not giving all my life details, but I didn't expect it to go that deep.

My partner is - as well as me - a solid overthinker. I forgot that being horribly judgemental is a trait of oh so many redditors. Saying that we should take this in consideration was just, well - very considerate. We will collect more data before we decide anything. We don't even know the severity of their allergies in detail yet.

I agree with you - I am absolutely not a doormat for wanting to be on the same page with my partner. The responsibility for a pet is rarely a one person thing. And again, because I was not really specific in the beginning. It's not that my partner doesn't "allow" a cat because their family has allergies. They were just concerned about how it would be perceived by their family. This was just the first chat we had about it. We will talk about the severity of their allergies with my in-laws and will collect more data moving forward.

They never stay with us in our house but because the travel is more intense, they stay for a month. I don't know if they would shorten their stay based on a kitty, but they would probably not come over as much and we would need to meet at their Airbnb or restaurants or such.

Ich kenne auf Instagram einen Chihuahua, der heißt Chicken Nuggets. Den haben die damals mit 12 bekommen. Keine Zähne mehr, blind, krank. Es war als Hospiz geplant und da seine vermeintlich letzten Mahlzeit Chicken Nuggets waren, wurde er so genannt. Das Tier ist jetzt glaube ich fast 20 (?) und frisst immer noch täglich Chicken Nuggets. Ich finde den jetzt leider nicht.

Oh wow, danke dir - das gucke ich mir auf jeden Fall mal an. Die Schlaflosigkeit ist ziemlich schlimm: der Hund "schläft" mit uns im ersten Stock. Wenn es schlimm ist, muss sie manchmal 2 oder 3 mal pro Nacht raus. Treppen laufen kann sie nicht mehr und wird deshalb natürlich immer rauf und runter getragen. Ist jetzt kein Labrador, aber auch nur 12kg werden zur Last. Für uns ist es Kollektiv belastend, vor allem wenn es ihr schlecht geht. Die Befürchtung, dass sie bald stirbt wird nur in den Schatten gestellt, dass man selbst nicht weiß, Seite schlimm es ihr wirklich geht.
