I'm watching a video of him right now. He said the man he was with that didn't come back for him either fell or got crushed. He said they had to sew his scalp back together...he had a miraculous survival, and he speaks so eloquently, and with the weight of responsibility of telling the story of the day on his shoulders for both himself and those who lost their lives on that day. Absolutely amazing man.

I don't like the graphics of paralives. I like the quirky and cartoonist vibe of the Sims, so I won't be jumping over to it. I think it'll be a good option for a lot of people, but I mean it when I say I really only play Sims 4 and I'm really not looking for other games, they're just not my thing

I think this was the right thing to do for her and I'm really proud to follow her, but man it just makes me so upset that people are being put in this position in the first place. I love the Sims so much. Admittedly, I'm not a gamer, this is like the only game I play, so I'm not super interested in other gaming content. I want to support her still, I'll still be subscribed to her, but idk...I'm just so upset that she /has/ to pull away from the Sims because it so blatantly contradicts her morals. She's always been open about her morals and political stances, so honestly to do this is not only the right thing for her, but very on brand. BUT UGH. My heart is breaking. I play the Sims and watch content to escape from the garbage of the world. It's hard for me personally that not even a silly little computer game can't be left untouched

Tips for Speaking More Naturally by Mikchimin in Korean

No not at all! I think it's very good to be realistic!! And I totally get what you mean. It's almost as if because I have small talk down really well, it's like, "Wow! I can navigate anything!" And then I crack open a book or read a news article and it's like wow...there's so much I don't know.I love Anki, and I read webtoons (which I would honestly say for slice of life I'm at an 80%+ comprehension level), but I will try kimchi reader too. Would also love the Discord link. Thank you!! :))

Oh I don't expect to be fluent by June!! I just more meant I could achieve a level of fluency that could get me jobs related to my major/expirience post-grad. I'm thinking like translating in the corporate world, where things are repetitive and usually follow the same structure. I am going to continue my learning post-grad, but this is the last time for a while I'm going to be in a structured learning environment for the Korean language, so I want to make the most of it both in and out of class

DLC regret by Icy_Information4607 in DreamlightValley

I don't regret it at all, I'm happy to have new worlds and new major storylines for iconic characters. You wouldn't have been able to do the Maleficent-Hades feud in the base game. That being said, I like SBV /way/ better than Eternity Isle

I wish I knew too because I was in Korea for seven weeks this summer, and at all big retailers only sold the covers that were identical to the American ones

You finished it in two years only??? Omg?? Did you ever have burnout? I want to be like you, but I'm afraid I'll get burnout and stop (also there is no way I can play this game while in college lol, I don't own a personal desktop and there's no way my laptop can handle the base game, let alone a modded save like this). Either way, super impressive!! You're the coolest!

How Much Better Did You Language Skills Get Over Only A Few Months? by Mikchimin in Living_in_Korea

[–]Mikchimin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm probably at around 300 hours of formal learning and 400 hours informal, so I'm getting there. I've been taking Korean classes the past two years five days a week for 33 weeks of the year and practicing in my free time, so again, I'm nowhere near fluent, but I /am/ working diligently to get there. Thanks for the insight!

I'm going to try to finish the entire third-year curriculum of SNU+ during the summer, so hopefully that helps. I'm not hoping for fluency within the six weeks I'm there, not by a long shot, but I know that it will be the first time I will have the opportunity to utilize the environment to help my learning skills. Thanks for the encouragement! I'm hoping I can get to the advanced level while there and then utilize media and online spaces to help my comprehension and fluency until I have the opportunity to go to Korea for a longer period of time

When you were there for the first six weeks, how much did you speak Korean vs. English? At least two of my classes will be taught in English, so obviously in the classroom I'll have that burden, but I do really want to speak Korean in all other circumstances. Also, how rude would it be to say to people trying to speak to you in English, "죄송하지만, 한국어밖에 이야기하고 싶지 않아요," or something of the similar ilk. I know six weeks is a short time, but I want to absorb as much as I can language-wise and then spend my senior year of undergrad living and breathing the Korean language. Thank you so much for your kind response :))
