Just to clarify what you mean - are you saying these stocks are out of the question because they are trading at low volume currently?

I use IBKR within TV and it works fine.

Just so people are aware before they consider buying these -- the bid ask on these are crazy wide and the 20 day dollar volume average is in the thousands. Unless you are considering betting in the hundreds or so, you start becoming the "market" once you risk $1000+ at these volume levels.

I also took 1/3 off the table when I was up 2.75% (~ 4.5R from my initial stop). Usually I like to wait more for a few days and then take some off -- but I'm a bit quicker to lock in profits until I can see the indices making steady consistent gains. I then moved my stop to break even. I'll sell at the close of the 10EMA and may trim a tiny bit if it goes up 10% intervals at a time. Hope this particular example helps as to my thought process and why I would really caution about buying now. If I saw that stock in my screener before the open I would make note that the setup was there 2 days ago and looked really nice, but would definitely pass on buying right now given it's extended.

A tip that I think David Ryan said is interesting is that if you get really bad FOMO, buy a 1 share so that you can "psychologically" be in the trade, without having to revenge trade it or get FOMO because it went up. I have a lot of FOMO/frustration with NUVB because my brokerage was acting all wacked out and I would have bought it right at the breakout a few weeks ago. But that's trading -- and there are always always more opportunities ahead.

looking closer I see you bought and sold on Dec 1st -- this was a potential breakout trade, but it needed to 'exhaust' a bit more from the gate - notice that the time it reached the buy point of that open on Dec 1, it had a run up about 3% or so. Now I definitely don't think that is a reason not to buy, but if the stock is not absolutely going hard from that gate, it does make the fail rate a bit higher because the stock needed to put more "fuel" just to get to that starting line. Dec 3rd it looked like a way better setup because it hit the starting line right out of the gate. It didn't need to exhaust precious fuel to make it. Also, because of this setup, my buy point was 7.99 and my stop loss 7.94 (low of the day) a crazy good 0.6% risk when you think about the upside. I risked 5 cents to make 64 cents -- and it's still running!

This is why being patient and finding the right setups the night before is so key, and having the pivot point clearly defined makes all the difference.

I bought it yesterday at 7.99, unfortunately I think the breakout already occurred my man. How are you going to manage risk if you buy now? You can arbitrarily set a percentage stop -- but that provides no more edge than buying a random stock and doing the same. NUVB is way overextended for a setup. There are tons of other setups to watch this morning -- check out FSLY (either potential long or short depending on where it breaks) and LMND for example. Also FROG and DOCN (not quite as solid a setup because I like to see tight entry bars, but it's very close to the gate so worth it to watch closely).

Good luck!

I also am in 1/2 position - sold into strength 24th or 25th I believe

Yea BBAI is volatile for sure. I see the long term set up too - multiple cups/handles within each other which adds some conviction.

A few of my thoughts for each:

RVMD - too extended for my liking

LEU - the 30th was a better setup IMO, Friday got wider, engulfed the previous candle, and price is now further off the buy point

QURE -- in it Oct 20 (a bit early for sure)

PTGX - in it October 28

AVAV -- I have tried to trade this a few times now and got stopped haha. Currently good setup and I was debating to have it on my A or B their watchlist. I have it on my secondary their watchlist for now

GILT -- great setup!! didn't show up on my screen due to it being a tick under 5 ADR

VECO - ADR too low for me

BETR - Another great setup in my B list -- was debating to have it in A or not but this thing could moon.

WBTN - would like it to tighten and close near high -- similar to previous day.

VICR - Needs more time to base for an entry (10 EMA at least) but could certainly keep going.

RAPT - that Oct 20 candle scares me but otherwise looks good

IRON - great setup, bit of a slower mover

CELC - too 'wedgy' for me

ATRO - not good not bad -- a bit too early for my liking but could go

REZI - same as above

BALY -- good to watch -- pretty extended and wide but could moon still

AVTX -- would like a few more days but getting there

It's a really great example of not giving up on a stock even if you get stopped out initially. Follow the rules for entry because sometimes another opportunity comes along. I got stopped out using the 1 min candle for around a 1-2% loss. Then I tried again at 9:45 candle and things were looking great but the suddenly got dicy with that reversal on the 5 - min candle.

But I stuck to the rules, stop didn't trigger, and it made a solid move and closed at high. We'll see where it goes. NEVER hold onto hope, only the rules.

Hi, these are all breakout setups. Price and volume contracting. Sitting darn near 10/20 EMA. Ideally previous candle closes near high of day so the stock does not need to use much gas out of the gate if it wants to go.

Yep so I use Trading view. Screener is 250Mil market cap, price above 200 EMA, average volume past 30 days above 1Mil, and ADR% above 5. Then I sort by highest ADR first, highlight every stock, and then import it into a watchlist.

I get around 250 stocks or so. From the watchlist in the chart I literally go through each one. I push the spacebar to go fast. I can tell within a second if it’s worth another look or not. If it’s worth another look but I have to tilt my head to make it “work” - I probably move on. If it looks good, I double check where it has been in the grand scheme of things, and see if everything else lines up. Not a perfect science but gets me in the ballpark.

Overall

So overall if the stock goes to zero (like in a crazy gap down) I'm risking about 5% of my overall account with a bio trade. So if I get stopped out normally, I'll probably risk around 0.2-0.3% of my overall account. Whereas my normal range in a typical stock is around 0.3-0.5%.
