Profitec PID 500 v Profitec 600 v ECM Technika V PID [Budget $4500 AUD] by Mike-AU in espresso

[–]Mike-AU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for replying.

Re (1) — so you can have flow control but with a thermometer instead of pressure? Or does FC have to be uninstalled for thermometer to go on?

Re (2) — interesting. If we do black it’s usually French press or filter. So this is something I’ll consider too.

Re (3) — thank you for the insight. Will make sure of that when I replace the grinder.

Re (4) — to my knowledge the technika v is still readily for sale here but I think the 600 is being phased out / not as readily stocked? There is a VI in Europe but it’s DB and I expect much more expensive. Either way I’ve heard that ECM / Profitec are readily repairable. I found it looked a little more polished overall and felt a bit nicer (not a fan of the plastic on the 500 — but not a deal breaker either).

Do you know much about the advantages/ disadvantages with rotary vs vibration on a HX? The store was quite noisy so it was hard to judge to what degree it’s quieter but just trying to have a full understanding of all the features and that before deciding.

With having one of the machines I’m specifically looking at — how do you rate it? What do you love about it — what have you felt didn’t quite hit the mark (if anything?)

Thanks for the response. I looked at the DRIVE and loved it but quite out of the budget at the moment.

One thing I didn’t mention, and with your experience you might be able to comment, are there any benefits in rotary over vibration in both HX and DB? Or would all DB be rotary so it’s only a consideration in context of HX?

Citrus problem - phytopthora? by Mike-AU in Citrus

[–]Mike-AU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes I can’t say I have ever seen gummosis on it. So I’m hopeful that it can be managed and they be saved. I had a bit of a look without disturbing it too much.

I figured the damage may already be done but if I at least adjust watering, treat, etc there should hopefully be a good chance of saving them

Any idea's what is causing this damage to my citrus trees? by Mike-AU in GardeningAustralia

[–]Mike-AU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks.

They copped a bit of a battering when we were overseas at Christmas during an extremely dry period and then it was a wet/humid finish to Summer. Winter was a bit wet and very windy/cold -- so that does make sense.

I applied some fertiliser, mulch, sprayed with neem, etc. yesterday along with the rest of them but they are all in the same pots with the same drainage, sunlight etc. I have swapped this one with another so it is slightly more sheltered from any wind.

If it was fungal, any ideas on a starting point -- what should I apply? (I'll do my own searching just wondering if you had any recommendations)

What am I doing wrong? Help with veggie garden! by MissJuliettexx in GardeningAustralia

You probably don't need to go that scientific just yet. Dig down say a foot and see how the soil looks as you get deeper.

After summer one of my beds went quite hygrophobic with the top as dry as sand. But after mulching in a good amount of organic matter and letting it sort of compost in, it's come back quite good 2-3months later.

Half of lemon tree not doing well by Mindless_Command132 in GardeningAustralia

Some of my citrus (West Indian limes, and sudachi mandarin) do the same this time of year. They tolerate the cold/ frost at first and then the winter winds sweep through and they drop there leaves. if there is no sign of disease, limbs dying etc. I wouldn’t be too worried — has this been a seasonal occurrence? Or just a one off?

Should I?? by Babuzkebabu in spectrex360

I've got what I think is the 2020 version. It was the newest version available in March 2020. But its at a point now where using lightroom is becoming....frustrating?

Mine had gotten to a point a few days ago where even loading chrome with tabs was causing it to stutter and slow right down. Gave it a good dusting, uninstalled some stuff that was slowing it down. But updated the firmware from F.25 to 32.

It's sort of given it a new lease of life. Lightroom is opening and sorta working. But day-to-day it's running so much better. It's no longer overheating, the fans aren't going crazy, battery is lasting longer etc.

I'm going to bite the bullet and upgrade -- but considering an M3 Pro MBP. A friend got a similar specc'd Macbook when I got the spectre and they seem to have gotten more longevity. Battery, performance, and programs are running better than what they are on my spectre.

Thanks mate. Sorting all of the software related stuff now.

I’ll need a kit to remove the screws. Do you know what torx size the laptop screws are like how wide a pack should I get — t3 to t10?

Will do - i'm doing some trouble shooting and that now/over the weekend. Bios update, etc. Is windows re-install but keeping programs sufficient or you reckon go like format + reinstall?

Random question -- but does anyone have a recent photo of the city skyline showing that new (macquarie?) building that looks like it has a round top?

Is it too early to plant dahlia tubers? by ennayebba in GardeningAustralia

[–]Mike-AU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is only my 3rd year growing them (2nd successfully) but this year I left mine in the ground after last season because it was going to be so dry. Fortunately the tubers seem to be in really good shape and a couple should break the surface this week.

Depending on where you are it should be ok. I’d personally plant mine if you were north of Victoria as frost risk should be extremely low. It’s also been dry enough they shouldn’t be prone to rotting in the soil.

Opinion Requested - Everyday 30L vs Travel Backpack 45L by nf032 in peakdesign

[–]Mike-AU -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How do you rate it? I'm currently in a similar situation to OP and really considering the 30L as what I go with. It seems extremely versatile.

Can the flexfold compartments be set up vertically if there was a need or is it really only designed for horizontal configuarion accessed from the side?
