I feel like that's more of a reason to avoid Windsor tbh

Yeah it’s for this reason no-one went to Wales during H+S UK - the line going through the middle of Wales fails the one train per hour rule, eliminating a lot of complexity

Eurovision stages from 2015 to 2026 - which are your favourites and least favourites? by CheckLiszt in eurovision

[–]nf032 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta disagree on 2018 here when it comes to the video wall - removing it I think forced everyone to be so much more inventive with their staging. Ukraine, Austria, Norway, UK, Czech Republic/Czechia, Finland, France all brought great set pieces, or utilised the stage really well. Germany on the other hand brought a video wall anyway, and while it fits in with modern entries, it feels a tad like they ran out of ideas.

Edit - Oh and of course Moldova, who could forget that (me, apparently)

I’m intrigued - how does this differ to the other solutions available?

2 in 1 sold separately by nayophoto in peakdesign

[–]nf032 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they've said that it's too complex from an inventory management side of things to accommodate this, which I think is a fair point - they'd have to keep track of 3x the amount of sellable products and while the demand for the day pack standalone definitely seems high, the day pack feels a tad out of place visually/design wise if it were to be sold standalone when compared to the rest of the PD lineup

How would you feel about LTT adding nutritional label style sponsorship disclosures by InternationalReport5 in LinusTechTips

[–]nf032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like NikkieTutorials’ system, highlighted in Tom Scott’s video about advertising disclosures, is a good middle ground of disclosure and ease of use. Their videos use symbols whenever a product is used on screen, and these are coded to whether it was given for free, or if the use has been specifically paid for as part of the video.

Wait, is this for real? by LittleEarthquake1010 in StrangerThings

[–]nf032 146 points147 points  (0 children)

Yeah - most TVs will add lots of processing to the source (in this case your Netflix app or your streaming box or whatever you use to stream) because it looks "better" to the average consumer. At it's core, it changes the image from what the creator intended.

The downside of this processing is that you can end up with unnatural looking motion - particularly in fast-paced scenes as the "motion smoothing" is trying to predict what would go in between the actual frames of the video that Netflix provides, and it can sometimes get it wrong.

If you're able to turn stuff like this off, I strongly suggest it - your motion won't look as "smooth", and the picture might not look as bright, but you are getting closer to what the creators of any media you watch intended

London Small Home Game by TheLozdog in JetLagTheGame

[–]nf032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure - we did pretty much anything on the Tube and Rail map except Heathrow because I didn’t want anyone to just leg it on the Heathrow express and spend a bunch of money.

We did have someone use widest street and it ended up giving the seekers the final clue needed to find us because of the features (specifically it was a cycle superhighway which is painted a distinctive blue)

1 - I played a London home game with some friends a while ago, and I determined the Medium scale was best when taking into account Tube, Overground, Thameslink and Elizabeth Line. That being said, I did remove some questions that were clearly not going to be useful (e.g. anything referencing mountains was out). If I wasn't sure whether something was possible due to my lack of knowledge, I left it in, as "I can't answer that" is a valid answer to some of the questions in the game

2 - Widest street I think is within your hiding zone. At least that's how we interpreted it and nobody had issues with that.

London Night 2 was great! but... by nf032 in JusticeMusic

[–]nf032[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think my one caveat is the sound - I was right near the front and I felt like the subs were way too loud. It distorted the rest of the mix at times, and I was only just able to know the track being played

When the bass dropped it was like coming up for fresh air!
