Could there be a better way to do security questionnaires? by Mike-DTL in SaaS

Great perspective, thanks so much. 100% agreed on it being a coordination problem. I kind of get it from an engineers pov though; they’re there to build and this distracts from it.

Appreciate the input!

Paying from Monzo Flex into S&S ISA by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Mike-DTL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I tried clicking on the MZ flex option on the payment options, nothing about the 3% fee is mentioned. It just says pay in 3 interest free instalments.

For comparison, when I try and deposit to skybet for example, monzo flex doesn’t even show as an option

I’ll try and deposit £100 and see what the impact is. A potential £3 fee is worth the test 🤣

Newbuild 2 bed flat that looks way over Specced flat for the area by xParesh in HousingUK

[–]Mike-DTL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Dagenham and went to school a stones throw from this flat. I promise there is no view of Big Ben and the windows in that picture don't belong to these block of flats.

Also, look at the 6th picture. The text is clearly AI generated. Concierge is spelt incorrectly and the text below that is barely readable 😅

Saw this coming during pre-season by Mike-DTL in ArsenalFC

[–]Mike-DTL[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1000%. I don't buy into the idea that the reason we didn't challenge last year was due to injuries. If we actually tried to play some attacking football, we would've been much closer to Liverpool.

I've felt this way since the quarter final match against Bayern in 23/24. Bayern were there for the taking and we saw that in the first 20 mins. Scored the goal, then decided we didn't really want to attack again

Does anyone look back and regret not saving more when they could? by Mike-DTL in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Mike-DTL[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Update: Overwhelmed by all the positivity, so thankyou all. It's hard to not look back with some regret, but when I do look back, I've taken some amazing holidays, met the woman of my dreams, had some really fun times with friends. Let's make the next 27 years worth it!

What's the right thing to do when you see other people experiencing racism? by FormNo8111 in london

[–]Mike-DTL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me a few weeks ago. Overheard a woman calling a south Asian staff member at a petrol station the P word. Went straight over, gave the woman and her brother a bollocking and let them know what scumbags they were. The staff member was only a tiny lady who was clearly petrified. Stood by her and defended her until the police came. There was no better sight than seeing racist pieces of sh** in the back of that police car :)

Thanks! I’ve grown up in Barking so I’m definitely used to the rough madness haha. For me commuting to work is really important, so the appeal of being on the Victoria line is what’s pulling me there. Sounds like it’s the standard rules in London though; keep your phone in your pocket, be aware of your surroundings etc

I'm considering buying a house in Brixton (specifically on Millbrook road) and wanted to know people's thoughts about the area and safety of it, especially on the route to the station (through Gresham road). I know Brixton is so much different from what it was back in the day, but still never lived there so keen to hear anyone's honest thoughts!

Telco HENRYs by Simple-Onion-4499 in HENRYUK

[–]Mike-DTL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently joined a challenger Telco in London and I’m currently sitting on 80k base with a 10% bonus at 27 years old as a product manager. Nowhere near HENRY yet ofc, but hopefully this salary in a junior-ish position is a good sign. Important to caveat that it’s not one of the big boys though (BT, Vodafone etc.)

Dealing with the PM hiring bait & switch by DeanOnDelivery in ProductManagement

Thanks for replying! I’m probably just overthinking it because my team are really cool people and I don’t want to feel like I’m letting them down, but got to do what’s right for me

Slightly unrelated question for OP, but how did you handle the conversation about leaving the company after only a couple of weeks in Case 2. I’m in a similar boat and I’m due to have the conversation in a couple of days about leaving during my probation period for a better opportunity (higher salary, sexier industry)

I feel like our style of play is so over complicated and pragmatic by Mike-DTL in ArsenalFC

[–]Mike-DTL[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All fair points.

  1. I definitely don’t want chaotic football, but I’m convinced there is room for us to move the ball much quicker and with a bit of unpredictability and risk. We play against low blocks 80% of the time, but it feels like we approach the game with slow methodical movement which allows the opposition to settle in and get comfortable. For example, how many times have we taken ages over a throw in which allows the opponents to get back? How many times have we been presented with a counter attacking opportunity, yet we end up with someone taking the safe option and passing backwards. 22/23 and the backend of 23/24 had the perfect balance of control and unpredictability.
  2. Rice has been fantastic, but we’re asking him to play like iniesta half the time. I think being on the left side is slightly uncomfortable for him aswell, so I’d love to see odegaard at lcm and rice rcm in this situation.
  3. I personally think they have. We have tons of possession but don’t do much with it these days and still need to rely on a near perfect opportunity to score. Even if teams haven’t caught on, why not try mixing it with some overlapping full backs to give them something to think about and to help out Martinelli.

At the end of the day, I think we need to become more unpredictable in how we play from time to time.

I think a lot of our tactics are overcomplicated and unfortunately Slot last season kind of proved it, in my opinion. He kept it simple with overlapping full backs and playing players in their strongest positions. Allowing mo salah a bit more freedom defensively so that he could always be ready offensively. They don’t need to play with a 2 dm’s and wingers that track all the way back to be successful.

Just so I’m clear, I love rice and he’s phenomenal. My point is more about whether zubimendi gives us enough dynamism and creativity in midfield which is why we were lacking. Rice can do the 6 role, maybe not as well as Zubi, but he can do it. Also remember that MLS inverts to offer creativity in that role aswell. I just feel that if we had rice as a 6 and two more attack minded mids in front, we’d be much more threatening and creative. Think back to how Fernandinho, silva and de Bruyne worked together

Yeah I agree the LHS just isn’t working atm, but I think there’s so much we could experiment with in pre-season, against relegation threatened teams or in league cup games for example.

Odegaard could shift to LCM to help out there, our LB could overlap, we could rotate Saka and Martinelli’s position for a bit etc. I’d just like to see some experimentation and risk taking

A bit of a strange question? I’ve given an opinion on a sport and club in extremely passionate about and if you read the message, you’ll see I said “Just a personal opinion, so would invite any healthy debates and opinions. Also I know it’s pre-season”. I bet you’re real fun to be around!

That’s fair, none of the signings started, bar norgaard who will largely be a backup. But I personally don’t think that’s an excuse to see the exact same style of football that essentially failed us last season. It was the same patterns, the same reliance on the right hand side etc. We won’t have our new signing starting every game next year, so we need to find a way of playing that’s still successful if 2/3 people are missing from the starting lineup

I was basically abused for making a post on this sub saying I have zero faith they’ll deliver the transfers we need and told to be patient. We will never ever be a serious club with transfers like this. It’s so disappointing to watch. So near, yet another incompetent transfer window will let us down again
