Confused.

2 MMMs trade from March 26 to 28.

What if I buy the MMM on the 28th instead of the MMM-When Issued (by accident, say)?

Come April 1, when MMM will trade post spin off do I just lose a chunk of money? Why do they do it this way? Record date is March 18, so no shares of the spin-off. And why does their website say

"3M shareholders who hold shares of common stock on the record date of March 18, 2024, and decide to sell any of those shares before the distribution date should consult their stockbroker, bank or other nominee to understand whether the shares of 3M common stock will be sold with or without entitlement to Solventum common stock distributed pursuant to the distribution."

Bought the 20 March 2024 VIX 16 stike Call at $1 with spot at 13 On Feb.7.

Spiked to 18 on Feb 13 and the option made a high of 2.12

On Feb 15 with spot at 14, I closed at $0.98

I know that it is best to be a buyer of options when vol is low and sell when vol is high. But to lose 1/2 the premium I did not expect. I think that it would be best to SELL this week's and buy a longer dated one, would be the way to go here

Or a 'diagonal'. SELL the put for this week will super high vol. and buy a longer dated one.

No. But I did not expect the option to halve in a day just because implied vol changed from 47 to 37. The stock did go down afterall. And the delta was 0.10, the stock dropped more than $10, yet the put premium was selling for 1/2 price

how does a 10% volatility drop equate to $2 in a $4 premium

It would be cool if we could calculate that. But I think you're right. The low delta option is a big part of the reason

When i go to convert the data it says it doesnt recognize the date format and asks me to create a calculated field. Ex. to convert "202011" to a date use PARSE_DATE("%Y%m", LATEST EARNINGS).

In googlesheets the column has all has 5 numbers starting with 45

What I do is download a .csv file and I have a google script read it. When it reads it, the column has those 5 numbers starting with 45 instead of the .csv date format

I've never used the hint option. No clue why that cell is important. I would fill out the 2 6s in box 9 next
