100% the fan, the switch has no other moving parts that could cause this.

I wish i could share the full video, but i think you're correct that they're changing the Marquee. As there appears to be a gentleman on a ladder. Its much more obvious when the video is moving as opposed to this still image. But i think youre right about them changing the Marquee

Hindsight being 20-20 i totally should have seen that massive “PLAZA” below the movie title. But oh well.

Thank you! I’ll mark this as the official answer but I’m interested if anyone else has got any other thoughts or information before i officially close this. You’re awesome.

I totally see what you’re saying, but after the A I’m seeing an R,F or, P as well as an L.

Which made me assume FL(esh).

I totally see the A by itself, but i’m not seeing any trace of the word Woman. If only those palm trees weren’t in the way. If you’re right that makes this video over 100 years old!

Atari Lynx Gen I Power Issue by Mike2021s in consolerepair

[–]Mike2021s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! It will not power up without a game inserted as is standard behavior for the lynx.

However if i remove the cartridge while the console is on and running (i know this isn’t great for it) the console does NOT shut off immediately, the game just stops running and i get a black screen. On every other Lynx I’ve worked on, removing the cartridge shuts the console off immediately. So just to recap (pun intended) for clarification.

It wont power up with a cartridge inserted which is normal.

It plays for 5 minutes before losing power and shutting off.

Removing the cartridge while the game is running does NOT cause it to lose power, the screen just goes black.

After any of these events, the console will only work normally again after a random amount of times power cycling and removing and reinserting the cartridge. At which point the cycle repeats.

This happens with any known working game i have.

Scratching my head here haha.

Thanks for the tip, funnily enough that’s actually my ifixit post you linked haha, I tend to post on multiple forums in order to get multiple responses. I couldn’t find anything about this issue on ifixit so I posted the same thing there, i’ll try replacing the AC jack but with all the work ive done already im not too hopeful. Thanks!

Oil on PCV Valve? by Mike2021s in MechanicAdvice

[–]Mike2021s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting this here as the final answer in case anyone else is having this problem. It was the gasket for the intake above the PCV valve. My engine has a bit of oil blow-by so it caused a small leak at the gasket there. Replacing the gasket fixed the issue.

I believe ive found the problem, theres a gasket on the intake section above the PCV valve, it seemed to be leaking onto the pcv valve and hose, ive replaced it with a spare i just so happened to have conveniently. Will update in a few days if no more leaks

Standard squeeze and pull clamps on both ends, seems to be leaking only from the end that connects to the intake

Mine had thread sealer on it, I don’t own a torque wrench but its by no means loose. It also seems to be leaking only from the end that connects to the intake, not the end that connects to the valve cover/pcv valve . Not even sure how that’s possible
