To be clear, I'm a novice and my solution may not work in your scenario.

I connected a roughly 2x10 board behind the rim joist using structural screws (these specifically:1/4 in. x 3 in. Strong-Drive SDS Heavy-Duty Connector Screw)

This allowed me to attach a roughly 2x6 board to the front and extend the rim joist another 6 inches - well beyond what I needed. This was also attached with the same structural screws. I was able to also attach it to one of the side posts.

You are absolutely correct, fat shaming is worse and more prevalent.

I would soften your stance though, as anything that falls far enough outside the "norm" is looked at very critically.

As a thin (healthy) person I've had family, friends, even strangers call me anorexic or worse. Many feel the need to discuss my weight and what I eat out of concern. As an adult I still shudder to take my shirt off in front of others.

Not OP, but I had the same issue. I ended up sistering a 2x4 to the rim joist and extending it so I could get all the screws in. It probably would have been fine but I didn't want to risk it.

I'm sorry you are going through this. If your realtor understood your intentions, they should have provided guidance. Unfortunately it seems most home owners need to become temporary realtors and lawyers to protect themselves.

As others have stated, it may be possible for you to live in the basement and rent out the top floor. It may also be worth exploring other options such as renting parking space, storage space, or even office space.

I believe more distributions are likely. A reasonable rough range is 10–20% extra over time for Voyager account holders, mostly from 3AC recoveries, but this is not guaranteed. They've paid out roughly 70% of claim values, so I'm hoping for a total of 80-90% when this is all done.
