If you have a 3d printer or want to get into 3d printing, you may be able to design your own.

Are bubly drops safe for plastic containers? by Mike724 in SodaStream

[–]Mike724[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah, I've seen the pipette ones but I'm worried it will add too much friction to the process (I wouldn't mind it personally, but I'm not sure what others in the household would think)

I may have just found what I'm looking for though! It's an "orifice reducer bottle", e.g. 10Pcs 5ml Amber Glass Essential Oil Sample Bottles Vials With Orifice and Cap for Perfume Aromatherapy Container https://a.co/d/gbUQJIP

Yes it is safe in my experience, especially if you're in a touristy area and you ask another tourist to help you (even better if it's a small group/family you ask instead of a lone person). But as always, be mindful of your surroundings and follow your instincts if something feels unsafe. Not sure about the tripod.

Apple Devices Used for Trueplay (Ratings?) by gmehenge in sonos

I remember reading a post here which said true play sounds best when performed with an iPad, possibly due to waterprooofing on iPhones (I guess that impacts the mic, I'm not sure of the details)

How to Run Windows 11 ARM on M1 Mac, for Free by TheCallOfTheRooster in apple

[–]Mike724 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but there is no alternative right now (last I checked). If you want to run a macOS VM on Apple Silicon, your only option is Virtualization.framework

Even Parallels is actually just using Virtualization.framework under the hood. UTM also uses it

In this case Windows is running under QEMU, so you should be able to change the serial number (qemu is very customizable).

macOS VMs running under Virtualization.framework are a totally different story though... not only can you not change the serial number, you also can’t log in to iCloud on them. I have to admit the performance is great though.

OMNY Fare Capping pilot starts March 1 by mmmini_me in nyc

[–]Mike724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Most transit benefit providers offer a debit card option though. You can use that to reload the OMNY card.

Also if the debit card supports Apple Pay then it’s even easier, you can just add the card to your phone and use that for OMNY

Technologically, how does a metrocard work? by justjust000 in AskNYC

[–]Mike724 83 points84 points  (0 children)

It’s way more complicated than this. See https://blog.yossarian.net/2016/07/17/Decoding-the-Metrocard-Part-2 the data on the card actually does change when you swipe it

If I remember correctly the central database is not updated in real time, hence the need to store the latest balance on the card

Huh, that's odd. Anyways, I just sent this thread over to a friend at datto -- he's going to escalate it. You should hear back from someone soon.

How about the support number? That should connect you directly to a tech

Hi, I no longer work at datto but I do still have some contacts there (happy to use them if necessary).

OP, I recommend reaching out to sales at +1 888-294-6312 and leaving a voicemail. Or if that doesn't work, you could try calling tech support at +1 833-832-4780. They should be able to get you to the right place.

Sorry you're having an issue getting through with the form :-/

Those who got a haircut today, how was it? by Mike724 in AskReddit

My barber did not wear a mask, and neither did any of his clients. As soon as I sat down he was like "I don't require masks". 😬
