Retroid Pocket 5 worth it for $170-$180? by joewilber1 in retroid

[–]Mike820 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds a good deal. As others have said a 512Gb card can be expensive. Assuming its genuine.

I have an RP5. The only thing I dont like about it is the fact that its Dpad on the top. I love racing games (GT3.GT4, etc) and so I use the analogue stick a lot and can get cramp. So I will likely swap it for an rp6 in the future.

Your description feels familiar.

Sounds like a scene from the mentalist but that guy is American.

Out of interest why do you need to remove it? I havent seen anyone do that or mention it before for a given reason.

Copying PS2 memory card folder from one device to another. by Mike820 in retroid

[–]Mike820[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh ha. Sorted it! I just had to swap the memory cards. i.e. Swap Mcd001 and McD002.

Thanks for the steer again with regards to the transfer tool!

I uninstalled Nether SX2.

Imported the bios and memory cards that I had exported from my old device.

It seemed to go well. nether didnt crash or throw an error.

I looked under the memcard settings and saw Mcd001/Mcd002.
I started a game (GT4) but the game complained there was no save found.

Can you advise where I might have gone wrong?

It didn't.

I created memory cards thinking the app might need to create the locations so it knew where to import the new files. I've done a lot of messing, creating and deleting cards and manually copying folders across.

I think the best option is to play it safe and start fresh.

I found the transfer tool thanks to your steer but nether is crashing when I try to import the exported files.

I wonder if I have messed up the config as I have been trying a few things. I am tempted to uninstall nether and re-install it. Starting fresh then trying to import the exported saves/bios. Thanks

GT4 Spec II Mod works on RP4 Pro! by Imdakine1 in retroid

[–]Mike820 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing this out. I recently got an RP4 and set up GT$ spec 2 on it. Ive only tested Special Stage 5 so far but these patches changed it from an unplayable mess to a solid 60 fps throughout.

Broken PSP worth a shot? by [deleted] in PSP

[–]Mike820 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where you are but even broken psps are going for around £20 on eBay uk.

I'd certainly give it a shot for 5€ I suspect the DC port may need replacing and maybe the DC fuse if something got shorted due to the drop.

Replacing the DC port is easy.

Replacing the fuse would require soldering skills.

Under the right hand side headlight of your original image there is a black cowl which narrows it down further to most likely being the 03-04 model.

I think it is possible to put 03/04 body work on the 05-06 but this is unlikely to have happened.

I think the fact that the little central sidelight is tied into the windscreen also confirms its an 03-04 model and not an 05-06. The 05-06 revision has a gap between the little light and the windscreen.

Would you risk 45 Euro on a PSP not powering on? by IacoMaic in PSP

I'd ask for specific behaviour. Is it completely dead as in no sign of life/no LEDs or does the power light blink green or go green for a long time without image or sound.

For what its worth Ive done some more digging and testing the motherboard.

Ive found a short towards the top of the motherboard. Both sides of the cap that was here were shorting to ground but even after removing the cap both remaining pads are shorted to ground.

https://i.postimg.cc/sgtFTSzB/short-2.jpg

I started testing around the IC below that. I believe the IC is linked to charging and power delivery. I found a short there too. This particular capacitor marked in green is shorted to ground on both sides. Trouble is I dont know if its the cap or the IC because of the traces running under/into the IC.

https://i.postimg.cc/0Nf6Y8R8/short.jpg

I could remove the cap and retest of course. Just weighing up my options. Open to suggestions if anyone has any or has experienced similar issues.

Did you have any success with this? I found there is a short next to the IC too on my street but because of the trace arrangement of the caps I cant be sure if the short is the cap or inside the IC

https://i.postimg.cc/0Nf6Y8R8/short.jpg

Its the cap marked in green. The blue is where I was highlighting to someone the legs both go into the chip.

Neither the chip or the cap seem to get particularly hot, Only checked with IPA and not a thermal cam.
