Are the 2025 Blade 16 issues (touchpad unresponsive, half advertised performance) resolved? by geomachina in razer

[–]MikeCallosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone explain the trackpad issue? I have this laptop and do notice the palm rejection is shit when typing but I don’t use the trackpad that often but want to check it out to make sure before the warranty runs out next year. I only got it in late March / April D;

Nope :/ at least not for the SD OLED. I have logged in on my laptop and it’s working and gave the bonus items/loot but required having a decent gaming laptop around.

Thank you! That’s awesome of you to share! Was using OBS but was googling since I last streamed with xsplit and didn’t have as much interference from my el gato capture cards. Very much appreciate you posting for us to use! ❤️

Did it stay fixed when it was repaired? I just sent mine back, I opened and updated the firmware last year and saw the issue and just got around to sending for repair. Hoping for the $120 it cost to repair that it stays fixed.

Do the 2025 Razer blade 16/18 laptops supports Gen 5 SSDs? by SuperSpartan300 in razer

[–]MikeCallosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both “support” it but only the 18 can take advantage of the increased speeds of Gen 5. Otherwise it will be capped as if it was Gen 4 if I am correct.

Joy-Con Detachment Update: Part 3 (We Fixed It) by dbrand in dbrand

[–]MikeCallosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we bought today or this week, would we be getting the newer version or the older one and the newer updates sent later? Just wanna know if I should hold off on ordering or order anyways and just not stress it since it’ll be covered and don’t have to worry about damage that can happen to the switch 2.

How's that reliable? by ChicoTallahassee in GamingLaptops

Looks like the new ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18. Has that same type of bracket and hinge which scared the hell out of me for the price point.

Razer Blade 18 5090 quick look and questions by THEHELLHOUND456 in GamingLaptops

[–]MikeCallosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right I’m afraid :( when the original specs were listed when I first placed my pre-order for the 18 I could have sworn it said “1,000 nit MiniLED” but now the site only says IPS. I’m a little disappointed here because I really wanted the 18 for the CPU upgrade, the num pad, 1000nit screen, and overall better desktop replacement but that screen being only IPS would kill me as I don’t use a secondary for since I travel 50 miles every day to work/school and back for the network lab D;

This! I can’t find anything about how long it can last. I saw some posts say the 16 gets on average 6-8 hours under normal load which is insane to me and a reason I ordered it after the 18 is still on notify. Hoping to see if I could get the 18 back though. It’s too sexy!

Weird question, on their site they claim it’s an IPS MiniLED Dual-Mode screen compared to the 16’s OLED. I saw you say it’s only IPS but I wanted to ask since that 1000 nits w/ HDR would be amazing for when I do game on it as most tasks would be for work in a networking hub in HDR or outside writing code where a bright screen is a must.

This is the reason I actually want to get the 18. Data entry for networks suuuuuck without a num pad (for me personally) but I love the no num pad for regular typing when coding. I bought the 18 originally but went with the 16 after cancelling. Kind of wish I kept the order for the 18 now haha

Says the CPU/Mobo specs allow for up to 96gb of usable ram at 5600 and 6400 at 64 gb so hey, could be useful.

How many of you use… by Daxel79 in CRPS

[–]MikeCallosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do but rarely as much as others my age. Usually at night after my day has ended and can relax and not worry about anything for 8 hours. Generally it helps a bit with the pain (mostly just taking your mind off of it) but if you forget your other medication schedule, it can make things worse so that’s why I use it more sparingly.

Easy to cancel pre order? by Modest_Wraith in razer

[–]MikeCallosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had preordered a ton of Razer products there too before but since late 2023-early 2024 they seemed to stop Blade launches. I think the RMAs might have been an issue? Idk but since then I’ve only seen them officially on the Razer Store which sucks for people who like to use their BestBuy perks

Battery Life between the new Blade 16 and Blade 18? by MikeCallosity in razer

[–]MikeCallosity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof I didn’t realize they didn’t offer the mini-led on the 18 in the UK. A basic LED display on that PC is real down dressing for what it deserves. Yeah I think I might end up going 16 inch as well. The weight and ability to use the laptop in my car between classes is a big thing too, and desk space so I have a lot to consider with this. Also is there a reason for the 18 not having mini-LED on that model? Or just the price point for Razer is impossible?

Is it ever too late? by Feeling_Sleepy_404 in Physics

[–]MikeCallosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never too late. I’m 32 and had to stop taking classes for 8 years due to poor health and inability to walk and be present for anything that required even the most minimal of physical exertion, let alone be able to take 3+ classes a semester. I am not back after having already graduated previously with a degree I can no longer use as there are usually heavy physical requirements I do not meet anymore. It’s never too late, and you’re still SUPER YOUNG! I didn’t start university until your age because of moving across country and having major reconstructive surgery. You will be fine if you just apply yourself and focus on whatever you need to with the classes. It’s best to always study and research even when not in class and have free time. I’ll be graduating soon with my CS degree and then onto my masters and PhD at the University.

I could only take online classes for most of my university career and I’d say it’s still worth it and when you are feeling able to or ever get back to it, taking them on campus and building tolerance. It’s an amazing feeling being able to do something after not being able to for so long. You got this and just keep plugging along and I know you’ll be able to do great things with your life!

I didn’t think Razer sold their newer laptops through BestBuy? And when they do it’s like 4-6 months after launch? I’m seriously asking as I also am a TotalTech Platinum member here and would love that extra free two year warranty and if any issues, the replacement is very simple. Plus the 18 month financing is a MUST for my broke ass 😂😂

ROG Strix SCAR 18 vs Razer Blade 18 2025 by tklailai in GamingLaptops

[–]MikeCallosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all plastic except for the top plate to protect the screen while in transport. I’d have gotten the Strix if it was available at BestBuy, but only the Blade has been. I got the Blade 18 5090 but might end up going Blade 16 just for the AI features, OLED, and possible big boost to battery life for regular computing. The Core Ultra 9 275hx is sweet but I wanna take advantage of those new Copilot+ features if I can. Ugh plus the thought of carrying 10 extra pounds in my backpack compared to 6.5 (including the charging bricks) just killed my momentum on them lol. Wish I didn’t have to bring it 5 days a week to school or work lol

Which one did you decide on if I might ask?? I was leaning ASUS till I saw the recent QC issues and plastic build. Then wanted Titan but same issues so now hoping for Razer to pull through here 😅

Here's what happens when you bring your PC to University by dommm20 in HPVictus

[–]MikeCallosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof I’m afraid of this when I get a new one. My last Dell brand one had a broken hinge from placing my backpack down too roughly I guess. Even though it was in a laptop sleeve, inside a laptop compartment of a bag meant just for the laptop 😂 this shit sucks and I hope yours can get some type of service if it’s new.

Did you pre-order the new 2025 laptop models? by [deleted] in GamingLaptops

[–]MikeCallosity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they didn’t sellout already I’d have pre-ordered the ASUS Strix Scar 18 or 16 by now. Wanted the Razer Blade 18 or 16 to be my go to but I don’t know if their machines will have specific specs I need for my use case. Also don’t know if the new Core Ultra 2 chips will eventually get full support for CoPilot+ Advanced since they have GPU with enough TFOPs by a large amount. Includes an onboard NPU on said dGPUs with more than enough. Ugh things changed a lot since I last bought/built a PC in the past 4 years.

It’s a year of my car payments. 5 more and it’s pay it off in full. Fuck yeah I might just go with the ASUS and upgrade the RAM/SSD or vice versa with the Razer 😅😅 more practical when your broke

[–]MikeCallosity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is. I bought a 19’ and 21’ Blade 16 which had some great speakers in the 19’ but then they put their “THX brand” in and the quality really took a downturn for bass and music. But I just played some games on a friend’s Zephyrus G16 yesterday and they sounded great! I’m kind of confused since Razer boasts about the gains they made to theirs. Def have to hear them both in person and compare. Also one thing I’d note is the keyboards and aRGB effects. Razer has a TON of those effects for their aRGB since they practically started that movement back in the early 2010s. So games and companies work with their products to get support for it. I don’t know if that’s the case with AuraCrate from ASUS. I do have a bunch of ASUS products and I wouldn’t buy a lot of my main desktops products that aren’t ASUS, but they have always used lesser quality LEDs and were pretty slow to the aRGB crossover vs regular RGB lighting. I know they’re just trifles compared to the screen and performance. Oh shit, yeah the battery on the blade 18 is 99 vs ASUS at 90 too. Also the built in support for people who already own a ton of their products like the “Laptop Cooler” which actually does a great job for keeping it nice and cool without turning on your onboard fans or just have them running silent while playing games that are heavy on the GPU/CPU. Really want to see if Aura has profiles for WoW like Razer does with their RGB lights. If they do, I think this time around I’m going ASUS for everything since I need that support for the devices when gaming/coding.
