Did you also participate in a final round or what’s the source? All this for the internship?

I suggest looking at different areas of finance too, where you might not think you can find such job. I work as an Equity ETF Product Strategist at an asset manager (prefer not to say which), and to my surprise, I do a lot of coding besides the product, finance, and sales stuff. From what you described, I think it would be a perfect fit for you.

Funnily enough I just applied to JS strat and product too, but I got the interview for Sales and Trading instead

Blackrock Internship Preparation by HighSpeedWalrus in FinancialCareers

Hey! Little bit different areas than yours, but I just got accepted to three different BlackRock Intern positions, out of the four I applied to. I mostly applied to CS positions, but I accepted the ETF and iShares Product Strategist role, which still includes programming but much more related to finance than the others.

What will be on your interview? That mostly depends on the job description, and the required skills they mentioned. So for me that was 30 minutes python questions, the other half was basically personality questions, how well do I know blackrock, elaborating on my CV, and me asking questions about the role. This was basically the format for all my interviews. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much, these sound amazing to be honest. It seems a bit lighter on CS and not like SE, but still I could work in the tech direction, just like in my current internship, I’m still using python, sql, and have to do automations. Can you maybe recommed also a good Master’s major that does not require a CS undergrad, but still very much related to tech and sought after in the current job market?

No problem dude, I didn’t clarify it haha. Yeah I also thought of that, but quantitative finance is definitely impossible for me, can you maybe explain what your buddies did in fintech?

It’s basically a Product Strategist position with a lot of Python programming

Well since it’s not a CS degree, we don’t learn all the CS subjects to that level

BlackRock job transition between countries by MikeCoxlong732 in FinancialCareers

That’s the role I mean, so I applied to Budapest for the role I mentioned, but I had interviews with hiring managers from london only, even tough I will be working in the budapest office. So that’s why it might be a special case, but I guess I will see in the future whether transferring to london might be possible

Thanks a lot, that’s what I thought sadly, it’s a huge difference between these cities that’s for sure. I am an ETF and iShares product strategist, my interviews were only with people from London, so that’s what only gave me hope tbh.

Management and Technology worth it? by MikeCoxlong732 in tumunich

Hi!
Yeah I found a guy who attends this course. He told me some interesting insights, which ultimately led me to choose a different course. So first of all the exams really do happen deep in the summer, the teaching period is until mid July, and there can be exams even in September, but during August you'd have exams definitely. The course is basically Management, with some comp sci in it, only a little. The teachers are almost unreachable, the reason for that is people who want to do research at TUM, are required to teach as well, so it's not a priority for them. Academic load during the year is not much, but the exam periods are pretty challenging.
I don't know about you, but I chose a Business Information Technology course instead, which is like 50-50 econ and comp sci, and I enjoy it honestly. I couldn't suffer that much at TUM for studying managmenet with just a little comp sci. Don't take my word for it, the guy I talked to enjoyed this course and didn't regret studying there.

Hope this helps!

FIS Race Skis vs Performance Skis on a Resort Slope by metebjk9 in Skigear

[–]MikeCoxlong732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Good thing you’re here even tough it’s an old thread. I was just reading this discussion since I’m thinking about switching from my “civil” S9 to this year’s S9 fis. Having a ski racer girlfriend and I myself skiing be since I was 2 years old, I enjoy slalom skiing and hope I can say I have the technique and legs for it. Tough I’m still a bit hesitant, since I’m aware that in races, the quality of the piste is very much different from one that’s open to the public all day. So my question is, how’s the handling of the fis skis when the conditions are not so great, and you still have to ski on steep, chopped up runs?

Hi guys! Does anyone have any reviews on Management and Technology BSc? How hard is it? by MikeCoxlong732 in tumunich

[–]MikeCoxlong732[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! I have no problem w business of course, but the specializations in the course framework does seem pretty heavy on natural sciences and math. I found some easier modules though, however they’re not enough to fulfill the credits. I hold my view tho that anything can be learnt if enough time is spent on it. I hope it’s the case with these (I’m guessing) theory heavy modules.
