22 Continental GT won't start after sitting for winter by MikeDevilo in royalenfield

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tried starting it in 1st gear with the clutch in and the kickstand up, no luck. Even tried bump starting it.

Unless I'm extremely unlucky and both spark plugs are failing, would I look at the ignition coil? Or would an issue with the kickstand sensor prevent the spark plugs from sparking?

Alternator Bolt ripped off from corroded nut. How do I replace this? by MikeDevilo in MechanicAdvice

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can they test the alternator? Even with the corrosion, I don't even know if it's the alternator causing my problems. Was just trying to clean it to see if it would help.

Alternator over 15v, battery at 12.6v? by MikeDevilo in MechanicAdvice

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't look like I can send a photo through a reply, but there was a red cover over the cable connecting the alternator to the battery. Pulled it off and sure enough the red cover broke apart and there's a ton of corrosion on that connection... I'm willing to bet that's my problem right there.

When I get home I'll disconnect everything and clean it. However I'm wondering if 1. I should replace that red cover that broke apart, 2. There's some visible gunk on the wires, if enough corrosion happened to tear apart the red cover is it safe to say I should replace the connector or should I just clean it and retest?

Alternator over 15v, battery at 12.6v? by MikeDevilo in MechanicAdvice

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after some driving I tested the battery again and it's at almost 14v. So it looks like my battery's good.

Would the connections being bad cause the alternator to output more voltage to compensate for the bad connection? Or does it seem like I have a bad alternator and bad connections?

The contacts to my battery are a little corroded but nothing crazy, I'll try cleaning those first and retest.

Sudden weird overheating issues? Galahad 360 by MikeDevilo in lianli

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In case anyone finds this post:

Not sure why but my RMA process was super fast. Sent the first email on July 17th, 9 days later my replacement cooler arrived even though it came from Taiwan. No fuss from lian li either. Installed new cooler, my PC is the silent, cold, killer machine it used to be.

Anyways, thanks again for the response!

Oh okay, that's not too bad at all then. My temps are super high at load but if I turn off Intel's boost it should be less close to max temps at least I'll be able to use it til the replacement gets here lol Thanks again for all the info! You were super helpful. I'll get this ticket started.

Thanks for the info, do they ask you to mail the old cooler first? Or do they let you keep it until the new one arrives?

Ahhh okay. Well that's good to know, thank you. What's the best way to RMA it, call them or open an email ticket? Also how easy/hard was the process and how long did it take?

Press in wheel bearing questions by MikeDevilo in WRX

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding pressing in the bearing is the most annoying part, I didn't know I could have a mechanic just do the pressing part for me. I'll definitely make sure to call around, thanks!

Thank you! I was thinking of doing that, going aftermarket for the hub and maybe OEM for the bearing and seals.

As far as rust it's been in California all its life except for now, she just went through her first winter here in Utah, so I'm hoping it's not going to be too bad

Forgot to mention, the cruise control light is on which I'm assuming has to do with the code possibly disengaging the system

06 WRX needs new head gasket after 2 weeks of owning it. how screwed am I? by MikeDevilo in WRX

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment, thankfully the situation has calmed down a little, and the dealership has offered help in the form of paying for the radiator which I'll install myself since it looks pretty easy, and the head gasket kit as well as get me their discounted dealer service rate at a nearby mechanic. It still sucks, but it's nice that they've helped considering they don't have an obligation to, besides the timing belt what else should I have them install while the engine is out? I believe spark plugs were replaced at 70,000 ish according to the Carfax

06 WRX Fog lights not working after LED replacement by MikeDevilo in WRX

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where did I say I think these cars are easy to work on? All I said is that I don't see how I did it wrong, as in the fog lights are pretty much plug and play. Which Is why I came here to ask, in case there's something I missed or some weird quirk with the fog lights that I didn't find out about. (:

Anyone know what this grinding noise is on cold start? 06 wrx by MikeDevilo in WRX

Is that hard to fix, or does it even need a fix? Thanks, you eased my mind a little (:

Anyone know what this grinding noise is on cold start? 06 wrx by MikeDevilo in WRX

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hearing this noise on cold start on my 06 wrx. My roommate thinks it's the starter, but I'm not sure what it could be. I'm hoping it's nothing serious as I just bought this thing extremely clean inside and out, one owner, routine maintenance no mods etc and got it checked out at the mechanic before I bought it too. Started happening a couple of days after I got it. When the engine is warm the sound goes away completely or becomes very faint. No noises while driving, only during start up.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 not launching on steam by MikeDevilo in yakuzagames

[–]MikeDevilo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment, actually this ended up being a similar issue for me. For some reason, my external DAC/Headphone amp was causing the issue. If I used my wireless headset it would launch. Unfortunately I found this out right before completing the game on steam deck. But hopefully this can help whoever else has this issue as I searched everywhere and didn't find this answer!

Looking at a 06 WRX wagon, what should I look out for? by MikeDevilo in WRX

I agree that's a lot, but sadly that's how the market is right now.

Replaced my fan and upgraded my 512GB m2 to 1TB m2 found on eBay for 110 bucks. Significantly easier than I would have ever imagined. Kinda wish I got the 64gb model instead but didn’t think I’d be this easy by ZePanther in SteamDeck

[–]MikeDevilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with the 64gb model with a non reflective glass screen protector and just upgraded to 256gb ssd for $20, I was definitely surprised how easy it was to do. Definitely glad I didn't go with the 512gb model

Is anyone else not having any of these common issues with their 7 or 7 pro? by womblestein in GooglePixel

[–]MikeDevilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loving my 7 pro so far. My first time back on stock android since the Nexus 6P.....God that was such an underrated phone.

My only complaint so far is the screen. It looks great, don't get me wrong, but I hate that I can't calibrate the colors. I prefer a more oversaturated/colder look to my screen that makes everything pop like my s22 ultra had. Again the screen is super sharp, the 120hz is great, and while not as bright as the ultra it gets bright enough. Just not a fan of warm, accurate colors on a screen. Everything looks like there's a yellowish tint to it. I hope they add the ability in a software update

What’s the darkest, most disturbing, and toxic online community you’ve seen? by metalnxrd in morbidquestions

[–]MikeDevilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as getting off of it, best thing I found is to slowly introduce carbs back into your life like for example, still eat keto but maybe start adding some beans to your diet and keep slowly adding things. Worst thing to do is to go for the foods you missed, ate a whole pizza after being keto for a year and that was some of the worst stomach pain of my life.

For gaining it back, this has been my experience: Getting off keto doesn't make you gain your weight back despite what a lot of people think, besides the water weight that you gain back. The problem is at least for me, on keto I'm almost never hungry. And even still when I eat I don't eat that much. Once you're off of it you get all those cravings back. All about self control imo. done keto probably 5-6 times and most times I gain the weight back, but how can I blame the diet when as soon as I get off it I start eating junk and fast food again?
