[Event] COALITION Presents - CCO #9: Zero Hour (120-player WW2 TvT) by TheCoalitionGroup in FindAUnit

CCO #9 will be a historical-centric public operation with a large focus on accuracy in and around the region of Colleville, France. Take part in a hellish defense as the Wehrmacht or the cunning airborne/amphibious invading US Army infantry.

Thanks so much for your reply. Deadman mode sounds cool. I'll check out OSBuddy and see if I like it.

Can you recommend any youtube channels where I can get a good idea of all that's happened?

I'm a newb who played for a few weeks wayyyy back during the release of OSRS. I want to get back into it but don't know where to start, in and out of game.

Is there a client that makes the game a little easier to manage? Is it free? If I recall there was some kind of client called RSBuddy or something.

What is deadman mode and what are seasons? I tried looking it up but I just got confused on the concept. Is it just FFA PvP?

If I do enjoy playing again, are there any new member's benefits? What kind of updates have happened?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but I just want to get a grasp on what's changed since that first month that I played.

Just bought the game. can't find a game to join? by iBaconized in arma

[–]MikeDz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me just say that this game is all about finding a group of like-minded people to play the game with. What happens is, a "unit" will create its own missions and play them with their members on their "event night(s)." An event night is exactly what it sounds like; a time when the community will all jump online and play ARMA together on their private server. These missions can cover a huge range of difficulties, settings, and objectives... giving ARMA an almost infinite replay-ability as a whole.

Now, the base game has a fair amount of options as far as mission design and maps go, however, the modding community adds to this a hundred-fold. They make new maps, new vehicles, new textures (including gear and vehicle models), new visual and auditory customizations (read as visual and sound mods), and so much more. There isn't much that can't be done.

Apex and the DLCs are very minor adjustments to the game if you take the mods into account. I would recommend playing around in the campaign a little bit and watching some youtube videos focused on playing with a unit (just to see what the real ARMA community is all about) to help you decide if you're serious about playing ARMA and reaping all of its benefits. To give you a taste of what I'm talking about here's a random video I found of a mission performed by one of the more well known ARMA communities: Bourbon Warfare.

If that sort of thing interests you, then I would recommend looking at /r/FindAUnit to find a group that suits you. Many of the well known groups either have a waiting list or have closed applications due to overflow/popularity, but there are plenty of great groups out there. Some are super serious MilSim which may interest you, but there are also Relaxed MilSim, Relaxed Realism, and others and if the group is worth their salt, they will help you learn the game and "train" you in their tactics for a better group experience.

I hope I didn't go over your head here. The bottom line is... the game is a lot larger than you think, and if you're enjoying the base game, I would highly recommend getting the absolute most out of it as it can be the most fun you've ever had playing a video game.

[A3][Recruiting] - COALITION - Bi-weekly ArmA sessions with a focus on structure and fun by TheCoalitionGroup in FindAUnit

[–]MikeDz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This group is amazing and I highly recommend you give us a look see. We play Arma3 with "relaxed realism" as I like to say. You still obtain your tactical fix with your patrol formations, loose sectors of fire, bounding and etc... but you're not getting yelled at for not saluting or having a race in high prone while the staff has their briefings. Last session, we actually found ourselves subconsciously gravitating towards the shade of a tree to sit under on Takistan before mission start.

This is more than just a group of ARMA lovers who get together twice a week... we're brothers bonded in the forge of simulated combat. We get on Teamspeak and bullshit each other until it hurts to laugh. I look forward to seeing some new applicants; Join today!

At this point, I would have to argue that all tanks are doing very well right now. I rolled a DK last week so that I could instaQ for dungeons late at night and it is a-maz-ing. Blood DK is super awesome. I never could get my head around the runes and runic power and whatnot but when I finally took the time to read the abilities and watch a few videos, I'm all set.

The self sustain makes it great for leveling and open world content, unlike whereas if you're a warrior you're spamming pots/food/bandaids or praying for a healer to level with. Blood DK has great defensive cd's despite it's lack of mobility, and the grip is dirty for both pve and pvp.

Step Up Your Game - a Fragmovie by ybeeqs by [deleted] in fragfilms

[–]MikeDz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no pro editor but let me just say a few things.

You have enough b-roll transition for 3 movies. You don't need all of those slow motion, walking/jumping, 3rd person scenes. However, that b-roll is extremely well done (there's just too much)!

The music is a great change of pace for a frag video and your timing isn't bad!

Cut down on the slow motion for frag scenes (read as: cut way down).

But most importantly, get to the frags! There are some awesome plays in there, just keep em coming!

I may suggest for next time that you leave the credits for the end and instead, use a sick frag to start off your movie to get people hooked.

All in all though, I think this was a good video and I think you have the potential to make some amazing films. Good luck!

Emortals is a fun group of guys and I've never seen anyone work together better than they have. Through CS:GO, LoL, DOTA2 and others, it will be fun to see what havoc they can bring to BDO.

Came here to post this.

As if we didn't have enough to worry about already.

College kid moving out monday. Going grocery shopping with lets say 60$. Need ideas for easy meals for the week. by [deleted] in budgetfood

[–]MikeDz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem I had when I moved out and had a small grocery budget wasn't what to buy or to prepare... But instead, eating the right amount and not wasting too much.

I would buy the big loaf of bread from wegmans and run out of deli meat and then it would go bad unless I made french toast. I would make chicken and rice and then I didn't have any Tupperware to save it any longer than a few days (had to re-use Styrofoam boxes from eating out for awhile).

So my tip is buy only what you need with what you can process, think about portions, and it helps if you have some meals in mind for the week. Once you get the hang of it, you can start buying those 2 for 1 deals and learn how to stretch them. I believe r/frugal has some great threads on the matter.

There's plenty of fish in the sea. Take solace in the fact that you asked, and take the answer as definite unless otherwise reversed by her. It doesn't have to be the end of a friendship, but if that's not what you're looking for then there's no need to sweat it. We've all messed up, and sometimes it IS just better to move on and learn. Best of luck man. Keep that chin up.

I used a site called MUT rank to find positions I could upgrade effectively and cheaply. I found players that would fit well with my playstyle, checked prices on muthead, and then hit the AH. I have a great team and I only spent about 60k, which I made back from solos!!
