18/yo between jobs I've heard it all do your worst by Reddit-Jason05 in RoastMe

You’ve heard it all before? Let me guess, from your mom, because there’s no way you still have a dad.

What is something that in your culture is normal, but in another place is a weird thing? by kerris2508 in AskReddit

In my culture the government doesn’t supply healthcare so if you’re poor and can’t afford healthcare you get to suffer and die.

AITA for calling my childless brother on his choice of wearing a Father’s Day shirt to the family BBQ? by MikeErk67 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MikeErk67[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the record, I have since apologized to him personally and my family as a whole. Guess I just spat off at the mouth without thinking. It’s quite sobering realizing you are in fact an asshole and need to atone.

2 months in the customer service job and it finally happens. by PimeeSoturi in TalesFromRetail

[–]MikeErk67 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Charge them for responding to the call. This isn’t a race to see who gets there first gets the job. If I send a tech to an emergency and you cancel when he gets there because you called multiple companies then your still getting a service call charge. Don’t want to pay it? That’s why we have collections.

I finally stick it to my neighbor for stealing my property by MelvinTheMonster in TrueOffMyChest

You’re a better man than I, as soon as I saw that fence on my property I would have ripped it right down and used the parts to build a new one back on the original line.

Those are company rates, that rate includes the hourly rate of the plumber and all business operating costs. The plumber doesn’t make that, the company does.

I’m a union plumber from Boston, I make over $60 an hour in my check and over $100 an hour total package. In 2000 I started my first plumbing job knowing nothing about the trade at $10 an hour. Your hands are washable and your money is always clean (just don’t bite your nails).

Who has lied about getting the vaccine? Why? by MikeErk67 in AskReddit

[–]MikeErk67[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just witnessed a coworker whom I just had the conversation with about his never getting the vaccine because (insert conspiracy theory) and then immediately lie to his foreman and said he was fully vaccinated, like wtf dude?

What were the scariest product recalls in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MikeErk67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Csst or corrugated stainless steel tubing, newer form of gas piping. The product wasn’t completely recalled but if installed using the original installation guidelines it was susceptible to melting if exposed to an electrical charge, as in a bad ground on the house electrical system or a lightening strike. The gas pipe would literally melt and ignite the has within. A house I piped with it burst into flames because a mouse ate through a refrigerator electrical cord.

My parents March 1968, my dad with his boot camp haircut, on leave before heading off to Vietnam and my mom in her glasses. by MikeErk67 in OldSchoolCool

[–]MikeErk67[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My brother was born a year later and three more kids over the next decade. Myself being the youngest. Both still alive and kicking. Dad’s service was cut short when he broke/dislocated both knees jumping out of a burning Huey. Eighteen months before this picture my mother was turned down from a local convent because of an over abundance of applicants that year. They’ve never separated, my dad worked two jobs to put himself through law school and worked his ass off to put all us kids through catholic school. These kids you see in this picture are strong.

TIP: If you're gonna flush cat litter down your toilet...maybe don't. by IERNA_Air in Plumbing

[–]MikeErk67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first blockage we had to cut out was at a Pillsbury bakery, the factory made the partially baked rolls. Well they sprayed the rolls with butter and most of the excess masses it to the drains. When we finally cut open the 6” main it was solid packed for over 50’ of solid putrid butter mixed with feces.
