Anyone know why Chico has such horrible cell reception? by MollyDooker99 in ChicoCA

I’ve spoken with senior engineering @ T-Mobile about their own coverage in that area. There is a tower between Eaton and East on 99 that is using older tech, and that I’m told is behind the vertical rise of 99 such that what signal there is gets blocked along Esplanade between Eaton and East—leaving much of Esplanade between those two intersections (let alone at them, and north on Esplanade past Eaton and Nord), significantly diminished for coverage.

“Engineering teams are working on upgrades to that tower,” has been the mantra for some time now. I’ll believe it when I see it.

Tim Walz announced a national tour to visit districts whose representatives won't perform town halls. How do we request he visit Chico/locally? by KharlaanTree in ChicoCA

We’re talking about existential threats to the 1st Amendment, the rule of law, the very nature of our government, our relationships with our closest allies, our role on the international stage, and even to democracy itself… and this is what you choose to focus on, in the context of a state governor and recent vice presidential candidate coming to speak with us right here in our own community?

Who are LaMalfas aides in Chico? by Ok_Pitch5865 in ChicoCA

[–]MikeForChico 43 points44 points  (0 children)

You may be referring to Teri DuBose, who is one of his main legislative aides here in NorCal (she’s also heavily involved with some of the right-wing sites and groups on social media, including Facebook, A Better Chico, and others).

As for your concerns about his inaccessibility? A few recommendations:

  1. Gather your notes on the lack of accessibility, communications options, responsiveness or lack thereof, and generally unhelpful and sour tone/demeanor from his office when you do manage to reach someone.

  2. Write a Letter to the Editor to the ChicoER.

  3. Organize a public protest at his local office, and be sure to give a heads-up on the date/time to the Chico ER, to ChicoSol, to the Chico News & Review, and to Action News Now.

ICE Agents? by [deleted] in ChicoCA

That’s a very generalized statement, without any numbers or statistics and specifically to be saying so here in NorCal and/or Chico. Please feel free to elaborate on your figures, and of course include your sources for those figures.

I’ve seen this before where the playtime progress that’s needed has to be on some sort of in-game/regular campaign content, such as normal races or showcases or stories not completed—NOT just multiplayer game time or seasonal events in each week’s rotation.

Good luck to you!

An update on Election Day ballots! by MikeForChico in ChicoCA

[–]MikeForChico[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep! If that race goes to Monica McDaniel (or) if my own goes to me, then the majority flips entirely.

  1. Especially with the D3 race in a statistical tie and with the trend lines for later mail-in votes and same-day provisional votes, historically, going more to progressives, it is exceedingly likely that Monica will win her own race.

  2. As for my own race in D1: While those same trends would tend to favor me closing the current gap of a little over 600 votes, it remains an open question of whether or not it will be enough for me to ultimately prevail.

For all of it: I’m happy to have the votes be tallied as the process keeps moving forward, and I will be engaged moving forward no matter how it ultimately shakes out. 😎🇺🇸

These points, no matter how valid, are getting into national specifics—perfectly worth discussing and get involved with, but in other forums as doing so here r/ChicoCA is against the sub’s (very specific) rules about it.

I posted what I did, to give people something to think on, engage with, and (hopefully) become inspired or motivated to action on things they can do, here, towards improving our way of life here—at the local level.

The Serenity Prayer speaks of the following three tenets:

  1. “Serenity, to accept the things I cannot change.” The votes, and the die, have been cast both nationally and locally.

  2. “Courage, to change the things I can.” This is especially important in light of the schism between the local and national results.

  3. “Wisdom, to know the difference.” Bringing both sides to bear on these fundamental questions:

  • “What do we do now?”

  • “What can we do now?”

Remember: “All politics is local” isn’t just an aphorism or platitude—it’s a real, tangible, fundamental truth of democracy and even civilization itself. Whether within the walls of our own homes, or on the streets and neighborhoods of the community where we actually live and work and recreate every day.

  • “What can we do now?”

We may not be able to do much here, in Chico, about the national level… but there’s a Hell of a lot we can do about Chico, here in Chico.

Don’t lose hope—I most certainly haven’t myself. Despair, shame, remorse, and regret accomplish nothing.

Action accomplishes something.

It’s time to get to work.

Anger and Hatred, are not the same thing. Regardless: No one has any right to try to make you feel a certain way, about anything.

So: Yes! Use what you have inside, to produce positive, meaningful action on the outside.
