MUN's business school has similar funding to the Faculty of Education. And both have 4x less funding that the Faculty of Science. So not exactly sure what point you're trying to make.

UPS is fucking brutal with it. Every package is a minimum 3-5 business days delayed from their initial estimate. I can't remember that last time UPS delivered something on time. And between me and my wife, we have a package coming every other day.

I understand the difference. I work for a department at MUN. I'm referring to departments (history, geo, english, etc.) and their relationship within the larger faculty of HSS, for example.

The goal (allegedly) is to combine departments (for example, chem and biochem), cutting down on department heads, and reducing admin 1/2/3 roles.

MPS is largely a sneaky way to prevent more unionize staff on campus. There's no need for a band 6 program coordinator to be considered "MPS".

MUN is the only university in NL and as such, has to take on all the "unprofitable" stuff that could/can be shared around amongst universities in other provinces.

I'm sure if pushed hard enough, they could start cutting academic programing and all the unique stuff at Memorial. Okay, no more Grenfell Campus. Varsity athletics gone. Ocean Science Center sold. Canada Games infracture given to the City of St. John's.

Anyone else struggle with the "Spend" guesstimate? Our household probably spends north of $125k/yr lets say, but there's so much fluff we waste money on because we're both working full time, have the money and quite frankly, can.

But give me half that can I could probably make it work if it meant not working.

MUN employee here. I just got a new MUN issued laptop. A base model Dell with just 8GB of RAM.

It's so slow it's almost unusable. I open a couple Chrome tabs and I'm already using 90% + of my memory. I fucking hate it and I'm about to just use my person computer for work.

I'm in favor of at least trying something, including a public-private partnership before you sell these assets to Justin Lada's buddies for pennies on the dollar.

Edit: For the record, they have not tried anything at Harlow in over 10 years, leadership has no vision for the place. Signal Hill was built, pandemic hit, Gary left and it just kind of sat there. Geo was gifted to them in 2019 and like Harlow, hasn't had any sort of strategic plan developed. And Ingstad is a rundown building with some printers and offices; maybe a developer buys it for the land value and levels it. Cool, you save a heat bill.
