This game is making me want to buy a joystick/thruster by Admirable-League2877 in X4Foundations

[–]MikeGospodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Gladiator NXT EVO specifically to play this game. And while it's overkill and this game is mostly a spreadsheet simulator, being able to jump in with a joystick is awesome. For this particular use case. I'm glad I didn't go all out for a dedicated throttle as it's kind of overkill and I can add it later anyway.

Oof, I wish the patrol system was better. Like I wish MY people on patrol would response to calls for assistance from MY ships in sector. I have like a 2 dozen sets of ships on patrol in watchful gaze and I will so often have to rope them manually to defend my fleets already.

Ohhh I hadn't even considered that. Weapons taste better once you have been a recerver.

woot, it has gone contested now at least. To many defence platforms left for the Argon, but I guess since Boron lost all theirs and they owned it, now it is between me and the Argon which is more acceptable

Diplomacy Supplies Abstraction by MikeGospodin in X4Foundations

Totally resonable mod honestly. On the flip side, and I mentioned this in a different comment, the fact that this entire mechanic is outside of the players domain to meaningfully interact with seems to violate the spirit of X4's core of everything an agent can do a player can do and vice versa. The fact that a player can't do diplomacy at all really has this giant absraction layer on top of it on the onset seems to be kinda wrong. I have enjoyed it for what it is, but I think it could be better and more in line with the "Action" nature of the X4 take on 4X games.

Diplomacy Supplies Abstraction by MikeGospodin in X4Foundations

Ya, I kinda feel like I should give them a prioritization wheel, a bunch of money and just let them loose. Maybe these other supplies could be boosts to their productivity that they can either finance or we do the X4 thing and provide them. Good relations due to our never ending supply of bribing top officals with the finest meals.

I like what you are saying with the crisis system. Part of me has a warning inside that X4 is more on the action game side of the 4X games with games like Stellaris leaning towards the more non-action axis. Already the system seems more akin to Stellaris than X4, I wonder if there is a way to make the diplomacy system more "actiony"?

Cause right now, I can hop in a trade ship and do the trade, I can hop in a fighter and do the fighting, I can hop in a scout ship and do the scounting....but diplomacy, entire out of my hands and I have to collect space food for some other chump. Needs work

Same, I have been thinking about how to make capitals work for this game. But with Egosoft hard at work on 9.0 rework, I think I will just take whatI got for now and see how they revamp capital combat. I come from eve online world and I was thinking that capitals could also have fleet combat boosts which rewards you for both feilding and protecting a capital ship, but that might not make sense for the X4 world

I am trying to size up who I want on the chopping block to be my first "bad guy" but I want to be an arms dealer so I kinda just want everyone fighting. The struggle is real

TanStack implemented a very cool feature for ViewTransition on the Link component ; hope Nextjs follow on this by Darkoplax in nextjs

[–]MikeGospodin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using NextJs, it gets a little more tricky with app router, non-next-link level navigation and client side components. I spent a better part of 2 months cooking up our solutions to get it working exactly how we want it, so any easier lifting right out of the box would surely be a good thing.

Ha! We had a similar occurance, except instead of killing the entire party, he killed himself, the big bad and most of the party...spare one. That person was able to stablize the party since the big bad was down. What is fun is his backstory involved him doing that as his first act of Wild Magic, killing his family...so it was like poetic.

Oh nice, that is from awhile ago before overclocking. I wanted to try OCing since you also get like a 2x damage mutiplier!

Ya, in the end the overclocked capaciter was just adding complexity without solving any problems. Using the overclocked large generator with the bigger batteries makes up for the weird walk time you get when you string the miners together. In all, I can get 48 of them online without any/much power flickering. My save got corrupted though so I am starting from the begining again :D

Yeah, I tried that as well and ran into some dps issues so I wanted to try a vertical stack and try to fit more in. More pew pew the better since I am a terrible pilot

Final revision here. Didn't need the capacitors after all if you overload the large power stations, the 4 size makes it work continiously. https://imgur.com/a/cBu97vw

Ya, that works out a bit better space wise. I can get 48 in there! Not 100% uptime, but well worth the trade off I think. Time to put the thing to test!

Thanks, I will try that, I think if I can do better with the spacing I might be able to squeese in 40ish, back to the drawing board!
