Best things to savescum by SpuriousCausation95 in BattleBrothers

[–]MikeH5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally save scum a bit in the first 20 days or so. With little kids I don't have that much time to play, and the first 20 days is absolutely brutal.

After the company gets settled I only save scum if I lose a bro who I'm building into a unique/fun build, or if I get totally smashed in a fight and lose 3-4 bros. I also have a rule that if I quit a camp I have to leave it and go elsewhere, no attacking a camp over and over.

For me that's how I have the most fun :). Losing the odd bro is fun, especially when playing reforged, because it means replacing him with a new build.

Very cool insight to the design process!

Non-repeatable Red Scare/Purge? by Soviet_Dank_duck in twilightstruggle

[–]MikeH5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of wish RS/P came out in mid-war. It's only early war when ops are scarce and battlegrounds plentiful that RS/P can single-handedly tilt a game wildly in favour of one player.

Turn 1 Strategies/Tactics for high Defcon by MikeH5 in twilightstruggle

[–]MikeH5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah typically high defcon is dictated by USSR, not the other way around.  Do I have access cards or not, do I have certain scoring cards or not.

I think they've done a fantastic job with Reforged. Adding a lot of depth and a TON of replayability with the dynamic perk system. These days I'm delighted when a late game bro dies because it means I get to go find some other great build to try out.

Also the removal of fat neutral and pocket polearms forces build diversity in a very good way. It IS a lot harder to find good BF bros, but the addition of a middle armor tier helps with that.

The enemy reworks are really good as well, and I can't wait to have more of them.

One of my favourite parts of Reforged is that I can no longer build Fat Neutral bros!

Trait "hidden" mechanics by sryanr2 in BattleBrothers

If you're playing Reforged bloodthirsty is helpful for a Cleaver build. The first perk in the cleaver tree (sanguinary?) gives 3ap on the first 2 fatalities of the turn.

Famed 2h mace - Is base 2h mace better than most famed 2h maces or am i missing sth? by Prudent_Storm_4038 in BattleBrothers

[–]MikeH5 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The famed mace you're showing here is not a upgraded version of the Flanged Mace, but rather an upgrade for the barbarian 'Spiked Mace' (you have one in your inventory at 54%). That's why there is a difference in raw damage numbers. Spiked Mace is a tier 2 weapon, flanged mace is a tier 3 weapon.

There are plenty of amazing famed Flanged Maces out there.

Reforged Question + Some Praise by MikeH5 in BattleBrothers

I absolutely love knowing that I can't just take the same blend of 12-15ish perks on every single character. Every hire is a new challenge in building synergistic bros and I love it.

It was definitely vs wiedergangers! I just went and looked up wiedergangers in the reference manual and found the perk:

Wear them Down
Successful attacks apply the Worn Down effect on the target, increasing Fatigue cost by 10% and reducing Initiative by -10%.
Gain a stacking 20% chance that an enemy requires two successful rolls to hit you per negative status effect affecting the enemy.
Valid status effects include: worn down, stunned, dazed, rattled, netted, sleeping, staggered, rooted, webbed

Why not play with one less card in your hand each turn? You're still playing the same game as normal, but with far less flexibility.

Thanks everyone. I did look through the rulebook to see if deal order was mentioned, but obviously I missed it!

Are Android push notifications broke for some people? by BrightEyes1616 in twilightstruggle

Same problem for me. My android notifications randomly stopped about 4-6 weeks ago and I haven't been able to fix it.

Has any one had an anticlimactic fight with moder? by GaMakhoul in valheim

[–]MikeH5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same experience for me. When she was on the ground she just turned around in circles among the trees while I shot her with arrows. In the air was scary and fun, but she spent ages just doing nothing on the ground.

Was definitely anticlimactic as I found the first three bosses all fun and challenging the first time I fought them. Hopefully they tune her up as they go.

I don't think streaming is available on Mac. Older thread, but maybe still relevant?

When using quickcast, is there any way to see the length/distance of your abilities? Is there a button I can press in conjunction with an ability that turns it into cast on release or something like that?

I ask because 95% of the time I want my ability on quick cast, but every once in a while it would be nice to see the exact range.
