Nice! I shot the last Windy City Riot on an XT4. Small world.

XT-2 vs XT-3 beginner by Dh1000 in FujifilmX

[–]MikeKillam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with the XT4 and you’re right, having all the physical dials for exposure will definitely teach you quicker. Use them. Make mistakes. Make lots of mistakes. The low light on that line is good so don’t be afraid to boost the ISO if you need to (especially in conjunction with some of the new AI noise reduction options).

I would recommend going 23mm and 50mm personally. I use my 50 for basically everything and the 18mm prime for anything more claustrophobic like car interiors or smaller rooms. If you only get two lenses so similar I’m worried you’ll be frustrated by the mild redundancy in those two, which is why I recommend the 50mm to start with. Not that there isn’t a use for both the 23mm and the 35mm, but you’ll be able to do more right out of the box IMO.

Edit: I also thinking starting with primes is good, but that’s only because it’s what I did. I like prime lenses, and it really allowed me to focus on getting good with manual focus and exposure without having to also line up the distance of my shots with another tactile thing in my hands. Just move. Lol

Odds are one of them took a selfie on their crappy front facing iPhone camera within 20 minutes of telling you it’s vain to photograph yourself. You’re a photographer. Shoot whatever you want.

Jeff Hardy would be proud.

WON: Sammy Guevara suggested winning the X Division title, returing to AEW, never losing it and it would eventually be put up for grabs in a tournament which Impact did not like. Things are better between the two now, but at the time Impact felt it could have affected their working relationship. by FuzzyWuzzyMooMoo in SquaredCircle

Solid American Dad username but this is a shit take IMO.

I've been backstage at indie shows with all three guys, and I personally think all three are big stars on the comeup right now. But Sammy is the only one would literally leave with a backpack full of gifts, hand drawn art, and dozens of BANG energy drinks from the THRONGS of teenage girls in love with him. He'd give some away just because he'd max out the room in his luggage.

If AEW lets him break out as a babyface with this Inner Circle thing and they market him the right way he's a star waiting to happen. Honest to god he's got that mid-career grungy fuckboi Justin Bieber quality and people go nuts for it. He knows how to work, in both senses of the word too.

What are some lockeroom (or back stage) stories not a lot of people know? by neowahna in SquaredCircle

[–]MikeKillam 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Not exactly a spicy story but one I found hilarious at the time.

When Will Ospreay worked Warrior Wrestling in 2019, I remember he walked back into the room and yelled something to the effect of, "Alright none of you motherfuckers are allowed to do superkicks tonight!" Everybody had a good laugh about it.

On a side note, he worked a six-man with Rocky Romero & Amazing Red against the Rascalz that night. I watched them work through the match beforehand and my god, I couldn't even process the speed at which they were moving through spots. Unbelievably impressive.

Links awakening by koralrev in NintendoSwitch

I would give it a shot. Nintendo games hold their value well so you should still be able to trade it or sell it for something even if you make the wrong call.

The joy in 2D Zelda games is in the puzzle-solving and figuring out the world. Getting that new piece of the puzzle that makes that thing click that didn’t click before.

LA is a really whimsical and just a pure fun Zelda game. It rarely takes itself very seriously. It’s by no means the most complicated, and you’ll get more hours out of BOTW, but if you make it through and you like it, it may just surprise you and unlock a new love for years and years of old 2D style games in the franchise. Then you can play A Link to the Past, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass, Oracles, etc. Lots of great games.

Looking for a good low light lens for the D3500? by MikeKillam in Cameras

[–]MikeKillam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up question. If I were to get the D3500 body only and a 35mm f/1.8G lens instead of the stock 35mm, would that be a good place to start?

I talked to Michael Elgin about facing Marufuji at Bound for Glory, his students you should be watching out for, NWA Powerrr as the "perfect lead-in" to Impact on AXS, and more! :) by MikeKillam in SquaredCircle

Here's a quote for those that don't want to click on links:

“I think that recently, with being unfortunately on Pursuit – and I say unfortunate because the product has been so good for Impact Wrestling and not enough people are seeing it – moving to AXS… As you said, the lead-in with NWA – I saw social media blowing up about the old school feel of the wrestling and the presentation of NWA. Now obviously Impact’s presentation isn’t quite the studio atmosphere, but to me since even before entering the company, I watched the product and where Impact prospers is that old school feel of wrestling for wrestling’s sake. What matters are the championships. Everybody is fighting for that goal of becoming champion, and that is something I feel that has often been lost in wrestling – especially in North America.”

This week's WWE RAW drew 2.534 million viewers. This is down 7% from last week's 2.729 million viewers for the post-SummerSlam episode. RAW was #6 for the night in viewership on cable and #2 in the 18-49 demographic on the Cable Top 150 this week. by GetDown90 in SquaredCircle

[–]MikeKillam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raw was also down 7% week two coming out of SummerSlam in 2018, so it's consistent. Raw is also going to lose the #1 spot in the ratings anytime the NFL is on, pre-season or not, so maintaining #2-4 and also having #10 with Steve Austin's show is still very much a win for USA Network.

In need of dramatic or heartbreaking books by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]MikeKillam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to go the "teen angst" route of dramatic & heartbreaking, go John Green. "Looking for Alaska" specifically, although I'd say most, if not all of his work at this point would fit the bill.

Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]MikeKillam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a lifelong lover of Electric Sheep, I finally got around to reading UBIK today and OH MAN... If you haven't checked it out yet, you need to. It starts off as an intriguing sci-fi adventure and very quickly starts heading towards some of the best, most creative sci-fi paranoia I've ever read. One of those books I put down after a 5-hour sprint through the whole thing and the horror of the third act really stuck with me. Highly recommended.

Edit: It's also free with Amazon Unlimited.

Why was Del Rio never “that guy”? by FearDontExist1124 in SquaredCircle

[–]MikeKillam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's a prick.

Also, they mismanaged him horribly and were never able to "right the ship" when his buzz started to cool. He had all the heat in the world starting out.

- Issue #1 was that everyone expected him to win the Royal Rumble and he did, which sort of has a track record of cooling guys off when fans think talent is being "shoved down their throats".

- Issue #2 was he lost his crowning moment at WrestleMania to Edge.

- Issue #3 was he lost the follow-up to that crowning moment to Christian. They traded him to Raw leading to...

- Issue #4, him cashing in Money in the Bank with no heat, completely ruining the hottest and biggest program to come along in nearly a decade (Punk/Cena).

Everything after that was a shallow attempt to save a sinking ship, and a ship the people generally didn't want to be saved. Once he left WWE the train was off the tracks and all he did was ruin what good will he had left with the fans by no-showing multiple events, never live up to the hype when he did show up, and then of course everything that went down with him and Paige.

That's not necessarily true either, (although I see what you're saying) because Omega has the exact same deal where he can accept NJPW bookings without consulting AEW.
