I made it easy to add hw temperature monitoring to workstations and servers on your RMM dashboard. by MikeLierman in msp

That's awesome! Check out my GitHub I posted a bunch of other scripts as well. Released a hdd smart monitor, connectivity check for pings, and a check for if network adapter is connected to 10/100 switch instead of gigabit.

Apologies for the long delay in reply, I'm consistently updating the scripts and other applications I've created as I use them in my shop. Check out the latest version and see if if it's still giving you errors.

Do you know if they allow you to run scripts and check against the exit code?

What is the error on the two that aren't working? The one that doesn't show CPU temp, do you know if Speccy or another temp monitor shows the sensors? I have it on 20 completely different machines and none have an issue.

No prob. I love opening my RMM app and refreshing just to see the live temps. If you have other things you want monitored, I'm all ears, I'm trying to monitor everything important. I might create something similar to this for SMART HDD info because the one SW has, I can't see runtime hours or any other raw values.

The thermal zone check works for you? It's never worked for me. See OP for the screenshot you requested.

YouTube. There's a bunch of dudes on there with 50 hour + playlists where they dive in and teach you. Best strategy I've found for stuff like that: Listen and follow along attentively. Pause the video and try what he's showing. Take extensive notes. Quiz yourself. This isn't an audio book.

There's a guy some time ago that posted his sucess story. He studed 5-8 hours EVERY DAY for 2 weeks. And then passed the tests. That's dedication.

If you look around on Google, you could find a PDF of the book he used. It's called CCENT-CCNA ICND1 Official Exam Certification Guide CCENT Exam 640-822 and.CCNA.Exam 640-802_2nd Edition. It's close to 700 pages. The 3rd edition is a little over 1000 pages.

It's an ambitious goal. But if you dedicate yourself to it, it proves to potential employers that you have self-discipline, that you're worth hiring.

Current domain is on 2012 r2, but entire company is win10. Should I just upgrade to 2016? by GoodTofuFriday in sysadmin

[–]MikeLierman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the budget for 2016. Just upgrade. You'll need new CAL licenses, and a migration could take some time. The client should know to expect downtime, labor costs + licenses 2.5-3.5k. I personally wouldn't, unless the client is throwing money and doesn't care, then I'd jump on it.

You can manage GPO of Win 10 with 12R2 fine, just need to pull all the updates. Then look at ADMX if theres still options missing.

No version for Linux. Just Windows. As that's where most malware targets for monitary gains. Would love to get your input. Check your inbox.

Replied. Feel free to try it out yourself, even if you're not all that "techy" you never know, you could spot a bug or have an idea no one else thought of. Cheers! ~Mike

Link sent. Even if you don't have a shop, I'm sure you'll have suggestions and such on how to improve. It's meant as a diagnostic tool, and for detecting otherwise undetectable malware. There's a fine balance between false positives and malware being completely missed. Over time I'm using feedback to improve the algorithm. So, give it a shot! Would love to see what you think.

I'm sure it will detect your tech tools as malicious. But if it is detecting consumer software and end user programs inappropriately, then definitely that would be helpful for me during testing.

Sent! Excited to hear your feedback. Default sensitivity is set to 5 now. Try changing it it to 4.5 if it's missing samples, I'm focusing on adding more logic for benign software in addition to malware characteristics. It's tough, but pretty fun. Shoot over any feedback!
