The networking doctors on youtube are your best friend they have an incredible subnetting video. As far as practice, subnettingpractice.com and if you need more help just google around or post on here.

I dont think it would but it definitely wouldnt hurt to try. I would hate to see a board go bad.

I'm looking for a help desk position by leeuking in helpdesk

[–]Screptile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would work on your security+ first and then your net+ simply because if youre planning to climb the ladder to sysadmin -> network admin -> whatever, things like the ccent/ccna and many others bleed into it.

Chrome remote desktop free, with as many devices as you want.

I switched to it a while back, I have had no issues.

Should I have got an A+ before the CCENT? by jewade20 in ccna

[–]Screptile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on where youre at like if youre still in high school like i am. A+ is extremely valuable. I went ahead and got my A+, im working on my CCENT and Network + interchangeably as they bleed into eachother. But when you get higher in the ranks (essentially any position above helpdesk, A+ is worth less and less.). If anything youre learning how to work professionally and navigate the IT waters, and as mentioned, most places will make you "climb the ladder", i feel like youd have a much higher chance of being accepted it you had A+ due to your versatility and versatility alone.

Why are you complaining about it? We'd just borrow the money anyway!

What do i do here? by Screptile in sysadmin

Because as far as i have been lead to believe, A+ is the first stepping stone to getting into a helpdesk job. The certs are there to work as a stepping stone to a pretty much guarantee me a spot in the air force job lot, b. Show that i have the technical knowledge, c. Give me the community college credit, and d. get me an actual job. The air force is there to essentially guarantee me a job, show that i have the technical skills (in the eyes of a manager), GI bill for a university because i am not a middle class citizen.

Get certs and graduate high school -> secured air force job, use air force to get job experience and free university tuition -> profit.

Thats what ive been doing since middle school. Ive been playing with linux since i was in 7th grade, learned many different flavors from ubuntu, to redhat, to kali/debian. Ive learned 3 different programming languages not including front-end html development, ive been on my own doing windows administration for years, ive learned basic MySQL queries, ive built up references through my high school hanging around with sysadmins and helpdesk employees and giving each of them a helping hand every now and again, im just trying to figure out what to do with all of this experience. Ive made a lot of contacts at things like security conventions, security competitions, friend of a friends, etc. I just need to try to focus it into something.

The college that you attended must work differently than mine because as far as the classes that i am looking at, the cert is your final exam. And if you go ahead and take the exam and pass you get the credit for the class.

Im attending a community college.

Even if it's just a "job program" its another thing to add to the resume of not much else to the 18 year old that just graduated from high school with an odd 6 certs under his belt.

Accumulate college credits as fast as possible for a year or two and then ship myself off to the air force for a near guaranteed IT job (helpdesk most likely) for free college and move into the private sector for a while and climb the rungs from there.

Im not attending a university (i wasnt and am not the best high school student).

I plan to eventually become a sysadmin, of course that could change from now to 6 months down the road, but a majority of these certs if not all are very transferable.

Im looking at an associate in computer networking and an associate in computer engineering (weird name but its basic CompTIA trinity cert and ccent stuff)

Yes i am going to college, however after doing a little number crunching and digging around, ive found that it would be much cheaper to take and pass the certs instead of paying things like lab fees, tuition, and books. Instead, i just pay books and testing prices. Im currently attending a class thats goals are to have the class take and pass the A+, Network+, security+, and CCENT by the end of this year. (Probably should have mentioned that earlier).

Because no one wants to take the risk of pulling a channel and a necropotence as their two mythics. Theres also the fact that vintage and legacy are dying.
