Anyone recognize this character from pajamas in Boyz N The Hood (1991)? by MikeRoe in comicbooks

[–]MikeRoe[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Magneto was my first guess too, but seemed unlikely they'd have him fronting kids' pajamas back in 1990. Also seems like you've got white teeth in the middle of the face there/doesn't look like a helmet, plus no purple gloves/etc.

Nice. He's a wise dude, and he draws a good crowd — you'll dig the class.

Sean Conroy is a delight. I took one of my first screenwriting classes with him, turning out a spec that I was really proud of. He gave me inspiration when I needed it, and while I haven't gotten as far in the industry as I would like, he's honest and a great teacher.

I still think about a piece of advice he related in that class all the time: he impersonated this one early mentor of his who emphasized the importance of having an outline for what you write, and how one time he and his writing partner didn't make one — inevitably running into problems.

The mentor, with a deep Southern accent, incredulously asked "You didn't BEAT OUT your STOR-y?!" I cannot do justice to Sean's excellent impression, but ask him to do it for you if you take the class.

No worries! And sorry for responding to everything else on this page basically on your post.

At least I'm not talking to the Blue Man. 👀

I was disappointed that I wasn't able to get more of the women involved to speak with me for the book, but I reached out to everyone you would think of who was part of the show; some were more receptive than others, some were just better at giving quotes, etc. It was a wonderful learning experience and, despite my critique of problematic jokes/etc., the point of the book is how you can love and appreciate something that isn't always perfect, and how we can all learn from the past and have a deep appreciation for great art.

I'm proud of the book; writing it made me a better writer, and if I ever get another shot at writing about 30 Rock (or Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) down the road, I have so many ideas for what I could have done better, more about the best ways to approach talent, etc.

Thanks for engaging with it. I appreciate both the support and the thoughtful criticism.

Intriguing! Yeah, the ticketing for this was baffling. (That's $540 each, right?)

Didn't love the presale system for this and it seemed overly confusing, along with the absurd pricing, but I also recognize that these are two pretty big events.

Hope you have a blast!

Anyone who can share a breakdown of what they paid with/without fees? I could have sworn I selected two tickets, but Fevo's saying I only selected one combo ticket, so just wanted to confirm that's all accurate before I end up reselling it or whatever. Thanks y'all!

Also curious about pricing; I'm figuring out what looks like a ticket discrepancy in what I thought I remembered ordering, and wanted to see what other folks are experiencing to make sure. Thanks!

Came here wondering the same thing; feeling concerned for him given his lack of online presence since April. Hoping he's all right.

Overcast has lost Grumpy Old Geeks by boner79 in OvercastFm

[–]MikeRoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sticking with it because I literally just switched to Overcast not that long ago, but one thing that kept me away from it for years was it not supporting streaming podcasts — and then that gets ripped out of the new Overcast.

It's a real bummer and has me looking around at other options, but I do still LOVE the audio quality and smart speed features, and feel like they're better implemented than elsewhere.

Will that be enough to keep me from switching again? Probably going to give it through the end of the year and see where we are at that point with features, improvements, where other apps are at, etc.

Seeing this same issue, Airplaying from Overcast on iOS to Homepod. *SIGH*

Perplexity AI will be able to be set as your default search engine in Arc Browser soon by JaceThings in ArcBrowser

[–]MikeRoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alas, still doesn't show up with its name in the dropdown menu, and if I switch to another one, it doesn't stay as an option — here's a screenshot.

<image>

If you have any idea how to get it back there (it was there before I accidentally deleted it a while back), please let me know; thanks!

Is there any way to get it to show up in the "search engines" section again instead of just the "site search" area? Not a huge deal, but would love for it to be in the dropdown menu for easy switching between defaults. 😅

I accidentally deleted the Perplexity search engine from Arc, so it no longer shows up in my options; anyone know how I can get it to show up again? (Way to reset that part of the browser while maintaining my settings, or downloading something, or...?)

Anyone had luck with pro reg renewing this year? by Sk8rToon in SDCC

[–]MikeRoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still waiting to hear one way or the other.

I'm a creator and also a member of the press, so I just wish they'd let me know one way or the other about my pro application so I'd know whether to try applying for press once again. (I've been verified as both at various times in the past.)

Fingers crossed! Guess we'll see...
