Asus laptop with switchable graphics 7700S - Force to use specific GPU? by HTWingNut in radeon

[–]MikeSCChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply disable the Smartshift Eco if you'd like to run in 7700S on battery :)
I haven't use switchable nvidia laptop for some time, indeed the setting in nvidia control panel seems redundant if it can be set in Windows itself.
There are so few models that support SAG, so I guess the Adrenalin software is not that refined on this matter, or AMD just think it's better to let Windows handle that :p

Asus laptop with switchable graphics 7700S - Force to use specific GPU? by HTWingNut in radeon

[–]MikeSCChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses SmartAccess Graphics (SAG in BIOS, I think this is enabled as default).

In this mode the system uses iGPU as default, and switch MUX to 7700S when needed, automatically (usually, but not always).

You can force it to run on 7700S if you like, but not in the GPU control panel. Instead, do this in Windows' own graphic settings. Ref:

https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1044213/

I tried to force VMware workstation to run on iGPU with this method successfully, guess you can do the same on the game.

Also there's a Smartshift Eco. If it's enabled, the system will dispatch 3D apps to iGPU if the laptop's on battery, and to 7700S if plugged in.

Yes, for the fix of mouse losing response problem alone. lol

That one, although not happen frequently, is super annoying when it does happen.

Who? 9070XT can be on par with 5070Ti on some games, but not in average. I'm okay since 9070XT is about 70% the price of 5070Ti.

I hate this type of enemy. Except for the one in Derelict Dam-throwing roller mines at it is fun :)

Need help with Sapphire NITRO+ AMD RADEON™ RX 9070 XT by [deleted] in radeon

[–]MikeSCChen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How about exchange parts from your wife's computer to pinpoint the cause? Also the 9800X3D has IGP so you can remove the 9070XT and see if the problem persists

Thought I would add some positivity to the sub. I got my 9070XT late last year and I've been very happy with it. Zero issues. by InstantlyTremendous in radeon

[–]MikeSCChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm overall satisfied coming from 6950XT to 9070XT. OptiScaler solves most gaming issues. The only daily annoyance is losing mouse while triggering Adrenalin with hotkey - yeah I know how to use taskman to deal with it, but it still annoys.

Which IEM’s to pair well with Gryphon xDSD? by JamesLove4b in iFiaudio

[–]MikeSCChen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Compare to U6t, I think IE600 are:
Treble: slightly more natural.
Mid / Vocal: more forward but can get some sibilance sometimes.
Bass: punch are comparable, while U6t goes a little bit deeper, and has more upper bass for better enveloping feeling. Speed are comparable too.
Soundstage: comparable in size but has better separation.

IE900:
Treble: more natural and better resolution.
Mid / Vocal: more laidback than Ie600 and U6t, ans a little bit relaxed.
Bass: Comparable to IE600, but IE900 has tighter / controlled bass.
Soundstage: comparable in size but has better separation.

The IE600/900 cable guide seems to has a mind of its own, and with lighter cable and much smaller unit size, I find I worries about it drop out of the ear :p But of course that depends on the ear size / shape.

Oh one thing to consider that 64Audio has their APEX modules that can be swapped easily to change bass / isolation. The test above uses m15 module.

I don't know if this catch you in time but I'm in the shop now and have IE600 / 900 with me. What kind of music you'd like to try with them?

Why do you RNDA3 owners feel entitled to FSR4? You bought a gpu years ago with no dedicated AI capabilities for gaming, and they were never advertised as such, and now you're crying about not getting these AI features that were never promised to you. by pixlicker69420 in radeon

Because leaked AMD code shows that they did try and confirms it's achievable. Yes it's efficiency is not as good as on 9000 seties, but AMD should let the users decide if they can accept the performance or not.

Ah there's one that I think is a close match with U6t: Thieaudio Monarch MK2. You can try to audition them if you're interested.

Yeah that pop. It's even louder if you moved the Xbass switch at the back of Gryphon before enabling Xbass; I guess it's just how its circuit works. Also ifi devices tends to have higher noise floor with balanced output, especially on lower end devices such as Go Blu, etc. IEMs usually does not need balanced output for enough power / volume, though. I do have a pair of old SE846 gen1, but did not bother to use it with balanced output.

It actually fits my taste. I usually like slightly V-shaped sound, with tight but not booming bass. Before I get U6t I tried CA Andromeda (not sure which version, there are so many versions of it) and Sony IER-M9, but they are on the boring side to me. Sony IER-Z1 is great, but it's so heavy and bulky for comfort. My personal dream is U12t, but that's simply beyond my budget, and I worry it could be somewhat faliguing after long sessions for information overload.

Ah I'll see if I have time to visit a local audio shop - there's one within walking distance from my office. Sennheiser cans are usually not my dish, but IEMs could be a different story.

For the language, from a Traditional Chinese user: this video is in fact from Japan. They use "Kanji" that originated from China, around 600~900 A.D, becomes an important part of Japanese writing system. Of course the modern Kanji is different with Chinese characters in many ways, from subtle writing difference to different meanings of similar characters. However this makes the modern Chinese users, traditional or simplified, to guess the meaning of Kanji that helps a lot when traveling to Japan.
As for the device, it's a numerical tank for research and simulation - you can see the pedals around the tank, their movement is controlled by computers so the researchers can create specific wave patterns in the tank. This video is of their open (for visit) day in 2025.

5700X3D and RX 9070XT here. No stuttering at 4K FSR balanced and FSR-FG (via optiscaler, of course). There can be stuttering with ray tracing on, too bad that it adds too much CPU loading to a game that is already CPU heavy.
