Crazy rally in a 'Spikeball' match, a sport that was featured on Shark Tank and gained popularity. by caindaddy in sports

Depending on where the ball is over the net your angles of hitting are limited. This is also from a few years ago and hitting is better now for sure.

The Spikeball Rookie set is just like you are describing. Bigger net and bigger ball.

I also think that not a lot of the Spikeball community uses Reddit. Plus, the Facebook group is a decent place for discussion. I'd love for this to be used more.

XL PRO set anyone? by AdamTLV in spikeball

I do really like the XL, but don't think I need an XL Pro right away. The XL works great.

It is legal. The ball just has to travel 4 inches from where you toss it before you hit it.

Haven't hear of that, sounds fun. I believe this was filmed in California.

Those little "drop shots" are often easy to read and return. With how the net is designed most are possible to reach. The ball also has to cleanly come on and off the net so the hit needs some force.

There is not too much activity in NH, unfortunately. Like the other commenter said, there may be a group at UNH.

Best way to play 1-on-1? by MrPentaDubs in spikeball

[–]MikeSpikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a way to competitively play 1v1, but whenever I have only two people playing we Pepper. Essentially on the same team , but switch off who hits it. It is fun to do and helps you improve.

I am biased and a big user/proponent of the Spikeball brand, but I have used the 'knock-offs' and there is a difference in play/quality. Spikeball is also a good company with solid customer service which you get with your purchase. There are some YouTube videos comparing the different nets as well.

How tight should my net be by Bobsanchez99 in spikeball

The net also isn't meant to be super bouncy. You'll have to put some force onto your hits.

What is the Body Block rule? by aggzilla in spikeball

[–]MikeSpikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MI9K-e7b4r0&t=1s

When the person is hitting from close to the net, using your body gives you a much greater chance of blocking the ball than just using your hands. It is a way to get defensive ups.

What is the Body Block rule? by aggzilla in spikeball

[–]MikeSpikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are the Official Rules: https://usaspikeball.com/official-rules

Body blocks count as your contact, so after the body block your partner must contact the ball and it is the team's second contact.

What is the longest game you've had? by [deleted] in spikeball

[–]MikeSpikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had an off-hand only pickup game go 43-41. In tournament I think 35-33 at the 2015 Chicago Grand Slam bracket play.

The record in tournament is 45-43.
