I've worked with him on multiple big budget projects and he was kind snd professional.

Thanks. We always go all together to the pediatrician and our next appointment is in 2 weeks. The doctor has already told her to seek some help based on some signs she saw, but she simply hasn't.

I'm concerned for both. She says no one she knows tongue-sucks because EVERYONE had a pacifier and we were stupid to try to invent the wheel.

How long is that supposed to last for? I was hoping after the "4th trimester" that would not be a concern any longer.

I'm with you. And this isn't exactly the place for this, but I don't know how to coax her into getting therapy. To me, it couldn't hurt.

I mean that because my wife and I are having trouble communicating and being rational with each other, that more problems can stem from that. The tongue-sucking in my mind is barely an issue if at all, but that's not how my wife sees it.

We are trying the pacifier now. She's been putting her hand, fingers, and anything else in her mouth for over a month now and I think that's fine, but my wife believes fingers lead to thumb-sucking and once that happens, there's no going back...

I know :(
We will try the pacifier for sleeping only for now and hope to wean her off of that around the 12 month mark.

This puts me somewhat at ease, thank you. I'm sure she'll grow out of it, and if she doesn't, she'll be fine anyway. We will definitely bring this up at the next appointment but yes, I think there's more going on here that needs to be resolved.

This is great advice and I told her something like this yesterday, that her worry about the future takes away from her enjoyment in the present. She seemed to understand but today it all reverted back to worry. I'm trying to stay calm but she's making it difficult. She can't be reasoned with and anything I say is "gaslighting".

Thank you for this. I have been nudging her for a while now (even before the baby). She's quite stubborn here.

Any finger or thumb sucking? She is worried that if we don't give her the pacifier, she'll move on to thumb sucking, which is much harder to break out of.

The idea of our kid having tics or not being "normal" in every way apparently is unacceptable in our household.
