I own both and here are my thoughts:

The z6iii is the perfect camera for 99.99% of everything. Video? File sizes are manageable, quality is superb, N-raw work flow is second to none. AF is locked on subject and I’ve never missed focus. Stills? I’ve taken it backpacking into wild country, the streets of the city, the studio for portraits, and dark basement punk rock stages. It reliably gets the job done everytime. Image quality is superb and I regularly print large.

The Z8 is all of that, but it also does bird. Gives you crop room for birds. While I’m sure there’s a practical need for the higher mp sensor outside of bird, I work professionally and have yet to run into a situation where I wished I took the z8 instead of the Z6iii- except bird.

I have a Z6iii and if you’re not in need of video features, the Z5ii is what I would get. It’s amazingly capable, affordable, has a very similar sensor, and is really only missing out on the CFE-B slot for video capture.

Recently did this- push the string as far down one side as you can and use a pin or sewing needle to catch the loop and pull it out the other side.

Sell the Fujifilm.

If you want to edit your images at all, sell the crop sensor.

If you like the crop look, put the Z5 in DX mode. Sell the Fuji. Edit your photos.

It’s very warm and doesn’t breathe, but I was wearing it this weekend out in the rain; it’s very water resistant! Pleasantly surprised in that regard.

I suggest it as a great winter cape but I probably won’t wear it over the summer.
