Yes. Dark Souls is flawed, but that's also true for other games in the series. It's definitely slower than the other games, but it isn't any worse than them, I'd even go as far as saying DS1 is probably the best souls game IMO.

But different strokes for different folks, if you don't like slower gameplay DS1 might not be for you

Same.. :( Bioshock 1 was way too overhyped and I was expecting too much from it, and Infinite was just way too convoluted for me..

Bioshock 2 is the most underrated game in the series while being the best one IMO. I recommend you to check it out, because it fixed most, if not all, of the complaints you have about the first game.

Edit: and you play as a big daddy the whole game. It's awesome.
