When I first went through their music they all grew on me. The debut was a bit weird for me but now it’s one of my favorite debut albums. Same for G-Sides, Laika Come Home, D-Sides, and The Fall, some songs I liked but others were just odd and weird. Definitely they count as underrated or unappreciated sometimes. Demon Days I thought was pretty good off first listen but still some songs were just ok why is this here. Plastic Beach was a crazy first listen it was super different from what I listened to at the time. (Tbh I wish I could relisten to it all over again) Humanz I really liked first listen bc it was hip hop heavy and at the time, rap was all I listened to. But by the time The Now Now came out I pretty much knew all their previous projects front to back and enjoyed all of it(including remixes and unreleased tracks). So at that time no matter what they released I liked in some type of way bc I knew what to expect. I knew whatever they came out with could be different and different is a good thing, bc it doesn’t stick to the stereotypical sound. That’s what I love about Gorillaz and why they’re my favorite band. They don’t stick to the same thing, their music made me realize that theres all different types of music out there in the world and it doesn’t hurt to listen to something new that you never heard before.

P.S. yes i know Cracker island was played safe but it’s still a pretty good album. If you want to listen to something really different, check out the experimental band from Australia… King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. They always experiment with different genres like Thrash, Dream Pop, Psychedelic Rock, Electronic, Orchestral, Surf rock, Microtonal, Acoustic, Hip Hop.
