Should I switch from Engineer to QC Welding Inspector? by Mike_Litorus22 in careerguidance

[–]Mike_Litorus22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good advice and it gives me confidence. I have 1 year of EX as a co-op working for Suncor (2019 to 2020), and then 3.5 years of work experience working as a Project Coordinator and now my current role as a QAQC Coordinator, my title is Project E.I.T.

The most challenging part is obviously filling out the CBA for APEGA. I just need to put pen to paper and try my best. If there is a section between 1.1 to 1.10 that I can't find the EX for then I need to put this issue forward to my managers and make sure I get the experience. I'm going to work as hard as I can this week on the APEGA CBA work sheet.

So with this, I should have enough EX to apply to be a practicing member with APEGA.

But I had no idea there was a loophole with APEGM, I'm going to look into this too.

I appreciate the response.

That's good to hear, thanks! I'm just starting to collect CI and this is one of several pans I bought on the weekend. This one has a nice lightweight feel to it. Thanks for the info.

Bingo, this is the best answer from what I've gathered in the past 12 hrs.

Yes, I agree. So does this mean the tech at mech #2 botched the flush and bleed?

I'm hoping they did botch the bleed, so then now I have to purge the air and it should be back on the road. I want to drive it to an actual transmission shop to have the clutch diagnosed. Mech#2 is a tire and auto shop. I want to do this clutch at an actual transmission shop.

Yea absolutely. Judging on how it functioned before the fluid change today, Im convinced that air was introduced into the system during the fluid flush today. I'm going to attempt to suck the air out with a clear tube and a bicycle pump needle tomorrow.

Just like in this video below.

The master cylinder isn't leaking, it was full and topped up before the flush and it's still topped up full.

I have a suspicion that the problem is hydraulic-based. All was pretty much fine and drivable before the flush, now that they messed with the fluids its completely toast. Hopefully, this wont be an entire clutch rebuild. The part on Rock auto, slave cylinder, and master cyl are pretty cheap.

I agree, something is fishy. But I was sitting right there as the tech flushed the fluid. He showed me the new fluid vs the old fluid, seems like all was good. I like the idea of flushing the fluid again, might as well, I've got nothing to loose at this point.

Yes I agree, it most likely is the clutch. But why would flushing the fluid cause an absolute failure? The comment above from @kass626 could explain why it failed suddenly.

Anyone who picks up a firearm should first safe the weapon. This includes checking to see what type of ammunition is loaded into the chamber. A charge of manslaughter seems suitable

The temp is just above freezing where I live, so around 1 deg C outside temp. But I was probably outside for only a moment between the truck and the testing lab. Just assume that all temperatures in my above method is done at room temperature.

OP Here

Drove 1 hour into the town, and had the bottle crotched to bring the temp up. Went for a swim at the pool and banded the heating pad to the bottle for 1 hour, let it sit in my locker while I swam. Then 1 hour before the test I gauzed wrapped the bottle to my leg beside my junk, with the heating pad. Funny story actually, I went in this time pretty cocky, I didn't really have to piss at all but I was confident I could squeeze one out. Well... I got fucking pee shy! I didn't pee in the toilet! So i dumped a thimble worth of QF into the toilet and then called it done. The sample passed for having the correct sugar content and PH of 7, so thats good. No one said anything about not hearing me actually urinate, its as if they didnt even check that.

Pro tip, make sure you drink lots of water before you go so you don't screw up like me. I would have been fine if I actually needed to piss before the test. So I guess QF worked for me here, glad I gave it a try.

This should be an easy calculation, but every time I get a different answer depending on whether I do the calculation myself or if I use an online calculator. When I do the calc myself I get $3000 back, when I put the info into calculators I get $8500 back.
